  • Description: Beyond the big cities, like Paris and Rome, are this trip's other highlights: cliff-hanging Sorrento, cool Cologne and ancient Colmar may be smaller in tourist numbers, but they're big on personality. It's Insider moments like… digging beneath the obvious at Pompeii, as you hear about the people behind the objects on show. Walking around the excavations, you're shown more than just the 'things' and 'places' they found centuries after Mount Vesuvius swallowed them whole in 79 AD. And it's this insight into local lives and lifestyles which are also shared by three other Italians we know – Italians whose homes are in Rome, Capri and Florence. Each proudly showing their native land, they give a human twist to the famous sights.
