On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • BERLIN

    • + Lake District Dinner We are able to admire the architecture of this vibrant city as our scenic drive takes us to the green outskirts of the city, used as the Royal Hunting grounds in centuries past. Today it is an exclusive residential district and it is here that we find our charming chalet-style restaurant forming an elegant setting for our atmospheric dinner of German specialities.

    • + Berlin By Night And Dinner Join in the fun of hearty German food, wine, beer and music. Afterwards enjoy the illuminated landmarks of the German Capital.

    • + Berlin s Secret Past From the Holocaust Memorial and the nearby site of Hitler's Bunker, we visit a remaining section of the Berlin Wall, followed by a stop at the Bendler Block, the Memorial to the Resistance Movement, to learn about the plot by Graf von Stauffenberg. His heroic efforts to assassinate Hitler were portrayed by Tom Cruise in 'Valkyrie'. Finally we visit the Topography of Terror, an outdoor documentary located on the former site of the Gestapo HQ.

    • + Potsdam En route to Potsdam, we will stop off at the Wannsee Villa, regularly used by the SS and Nazi Regime for their guests, and the infamous Conference in 1942 to plan the 'Final Solution'. We then tour the Cecilienhof, which witnessed the signing of the treaty which was to change the face of Post-War Europe, leaving East Germany and Eastern Europe to the Soviets. Finally we shall visit the Glienicke Bridge, scene of the Cold War 'Spy Swaps'. (On Mondays when the Cecilienhof is closed we will visit the interior of the Neue Palais.)

  • MUNICH

    • + Hofbrauhaus And Bavarian Dinner Down in the heart of Munich's old town we visit the world-famous Hofbrauhaus to hear the 'Oompah' band. Then on to a typical Bavarian restaurant where local dishes and drinks will be served.

    • + The Dachau Memorial Site Outside the town of Dachau near Munich the first concentration camp was opened immediately after Hitlers rise to power. The camp site is maintained as a memorial and excellent background information is provided.

  • INNSBRUCK

    • + Grand Alpine Tour A scenic train ride through the Tyrolean Alps takes us to the glamorous ski-resort of Seefeld. Here we will enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride through spectacular scenery, and taste some of the local schnapps. Later, we ascend the Olympic Ski Jump, to marvel at the landscape of the Inn Valley spread out below us.

    • + Tyrolean Evening Enjoy a lively evening of traditional entertainment. Singers, dancers, and musicians dressed in national costume provide a colourful show of folklore and fun. (N.B.:includes two drinks.)

  • SALZBURG

    • + Berchtesgaden And Hohenringstrasse Excursion A scenic drive in the Bavarian Alps to Berchtesgaden within sight of Hitlers Bavarian Redoubt. Then via the Hohenringstrasse, we ascend 5,000 ft along one of the most beautiful mountain roads of Europe.

    • + Eagle s Nest Tour And Bavarian Alps Driving deep into the National Park past bucolic farmhouses and picturesque villages, we arrive at the ruins of Obersalzburg. From here we transfer to special motorcoaches adapted to the scenic mountain climb to Hilters notorious Eagles Nest. Through the arches we will have splendid views up to the Hohen Goll and across snow-capped peaks (N.B.: This optional experience is weather dependent, and may not be available on all departures.)

  • VIENNA

    • + Dinner And Viennese Concert We will enjoy a delicious meal of Viennese specialities with drinks, followed by a wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

You will have time for a walk through the park, perhaps as far as the Gloriette pavilion with its magnificent views. N.B.: This optional experience begins at an early hour, to ensure VIP access to the Palace.
