On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.


A reduction of 25% of the cost of the Optional Excursions is offered to all children under the age of 16 years at the time of travel. Please Note: This discount to does not apply to North America optionals, as they are already discounted.

  • PARIS

    • + Dinner And Hidden Gems Of Paris Spend an evening discovering one of the areas of Paris made famous by artists, writers and students over the centuries, followed by a memorable dinner in typical Parisian style with drinks included.

    • + Moulin Rouge Cabaret And Dinner Dinner and cabaret, including wine and champagne, at the world famous Moulin Rouge - the original Paris cabaret - immortalized by the homonymous award-winning film and featuring 60 dancers and entertainers and over 1000 costumes!

    • + Nouvelle Eve Cabaret And Dinner Dinner with wine included at one of the most prestigious cabaret shows in town! Enjoy an evening of exciting acts, stunning tableaux and wonderful entertainment - including, of course, the world famous Can-Can. A Parisian night that you will never forget!

    • + Seine Cruise And Paris By Night Paris at night is a city transformed. Enjoy this superb 'city of light' as we take a leisurely cruise on the popular river boats under the bridges of Paris, admiring the wonderful buildings which adorn the banks of the River Seine. Afterwards, as we drive through this amazing city, we stop at some vantage points for you to capture these fascinating sights on camera. (In summer, this trip may take place before sunset).

    • + The Louvre And Eiffel Tower This excursion includes a conducted tour of one of the finest galleries in the world - the Louvre. A chance to admire the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo amongst the many thousands of exhibits in this former Royal Palace. We will also enjoy the city from on high by ascending to the second level of the most famous monument in Paris, the Eiffel Tower. In the event that the Louvre is unavailable, you will visit the artists' quarter of Montmartre.

  • VIENNA

    • + Dinner And Viennese Concert We will enjoy a delicious meal of Viennese specialities with drinks, followed by a wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

    • + Dinner With Traditional Musical Entertainment In A Local Restaurant Enjoy dinner in an atmospheric Viennese restaurant. Drinks and traditional musical entertainment included.

    • + Schonbrunn Palace And Gardens We enjoy a guided visit to the Palace of Schonbrunn, with its magnificently preserved state rooms and exquisite gardens. You will have time for a walk through the park, perhaps as far as the Gloriette pavilion with its magnificent views.N.B.: This optional experience begins at an early hour, to ensure VIP access to the Palace.

  • AMSTERDAM

    • + Dinner In A Historic Dutch House Savour a meal of Dutch specialities in elegant surroundings. Drinks included.

  • MADRID

    • + Excursion To Toledo Visit the ancient capital of Spain, situated above the River Tagus. It contains the nation's principal Cathedral as well as some of El Greco's famous views. Echoes of Moorish and Jewish cultures abound. It is also famed for the production of Damascene work - intricate inlaid gold decorating jewellery and craftwork.

    • + Fountains And Plazas Of Madrid With Dinner This evening tour offers us the chance to admire the elegance of the new city, with its wide, tree-lined avenues and decorative fountains, before we experience the flavour of the old. Join the locals in a little idle chat and people-watching as they sip an aperitif before dinner. Drinks included.

    • + Tapas Dinner In Historic Madrid Try the typical 'tapas' experience without which no visit to Spain is complete. Each dish is specially prepared to whet the appetite and compliment the local wines. You will enjoy a large choice of dishes, which vary according to the season, and together make a splendid feast. Do not miss this opportunity to 'do as the locals do'. Drinks included.

  • BARCELONA

    • + Flamenco Spectacular With Dinner We start off this evening with a fabulous dinner, drinks included. Then sit back and enjoy a superb flamenco spectacular. This modern interpretation of Spain's most famous entertainment really offers the best show in town!

    • + Montserrat Leaving Barcelona, we head for the sacred mountain of Catalonia. Ascending this staggering rock formation we admire its spectacular panoramic views before arriving at the ‘Basilica Real’. Here, newly-weds pledge their vows to the mystical Black Virgin.

  • LUCERNE

    • + Folklore Evening And Dinner Tonight we shall enjoy a tasty Swiss meal (one of the courses will be the famous Swiss cheese fondue) in a typical restaurant. Whilst you enjoy dinner, join in the fun of a lively folklore show which includes yodelling, flag-throwing, Alpine horn-blowing and many other customary Swiss entertainment. Two drinks are included.

    • + Mount Pilatus And Lake Cruise A series of cable cars will take us gradually up through the fields and forests to the summit of Lucerne's most well-known mountain. Here you have time to explore, admire the many sweeping views, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Then we board the cog-wheel train to the base of the mountain. (On certain departures the ascent and descent will be by cable car only.) On our return trip we enjoy a scenic lake cruise. (On certain departures this optional may be operated in reverse, with the cruise first.)

  • ROME

    • + Introduction To Rome And Piazza Navona Cameras at the ready for the many magnificent sights awaiting us as we 'do as the Romans do' and take an evening 'passegiata', or evening stroll. With our licensed Local Guide we will discover the many delights that Rome has to offer. These can only be truly appreciated by wandering slowly through the labyrinth of narrow streets and beautiful squares which have developed over many centuries, creating an amazing legacy for us today like the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, with its lively cafes.

    • + Roman Evening With Dinner A light hearted evening in Rome. We will relax and enjoy a typical Italian meal (drinks included), while live musicians entertain us. To complete our evening, we will drive along the Via Veneto, a location made famous by the film 'La Dolce Vita' and see how the Romans enjoy their city. A wonderful end to our day.

    • + Vatican Museums And Colosseum An extension to the included sightseeing tour which allows us to admire the artistic masterpieces collected and commissioned by the Popes and displayed in the Vatican Museums. See the famous Tapestry Gallery and Gallery of Maps then finally wonder at the masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel. Take your time - Michelangelo spent 11 years in the preparation of the vault and altar wall! Later we will enjoy an interior visit of the Colosseum, scene of many gladiatorial combats.

  • VENICE

    • + Lagoon Cruise With Lunch or Dinner Take some time off the beaten track! We are taken by private boat to the nearby islands in the lagoon of Venice. See the island of Murano where the glass blowers live. Lunch or dinner is taken at the picturesque ‘Island of the fishermen’, Burano, famous for its multi-coloured houses and a photographer's paradise. Drinks are also included.

  • FLORENCE

    • + Michelangelo s David And Renaissance Highlight Our guided tour begins with the Academy of Fine Arts with its Michelangelo collection including the world famous statue of David. The statue established its creator as the leading sculptor of his day and ensured continued patronage for him by the Medici rulers of the city republic. We continue to the Duomo with its dome by Brunelleschi, Bell Tower by Giotto and the Paradise Doors of the Baptistry by Ghiberti. Finally we arrive in the political centre of Florence, Signoria Square.

  • CANNES

    • + St Paul de Vence Corniche Drive And Dinner We drive inland towards the mountains and visit the historic, walled hilltop town of St. Paul de Vence, the artists paradise. We continue along the Riviera, passing through Nice, traveling on the Corniche roads with their spectacular views to a characteristic restaurant for a delicious meal including drinks.
