On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • BOLOGNA

    • + GOURMET DINNER A scenic drive through beautiful countryside to see the home of the great inventor, Marconi, at Sasso Marconi. Then through rolling hills to a delightful restaurant situated in the courtyard of an ancient castle. Here in the heart of the Emila Romagna, known as the centre of Italian gastronomy, we enjoy a delicious dinner of local specialities. Wine included.

  • FLORENCE

    • + JEWELS OF THE RENAISSANCE A guided tour of the Accademia allows us to appreciate the most famous and beautiful sculpture in Italy, Michelangelo's David, the symbol of Renaissance Man. Nothing can match the experience of meeting this masterpiece in person.

  • MILAN

    • + TREASURES OF MILAN With a local city guide we visit some of this bustling city's most famous sights. First we enter the impressive Castello Sforza - today one of the country's most important museums, where we see the 'Pieta of Rondanini' by Michelangelo among other great works. Then we continue to the world renowned 'La Scala' opera house and museum. (Should either La Scala or the Castello be unavailable, there will be a visit to the remarkable Museum of Milan.)

  • ROME

    • + ANCIENT AND MAGNIFICENT ROME AND THE SEVEN HILLS Your local guide will take you through 2000 years of the most fascinating sights of this incredible city. We will incorporate the seven hills of Rome, the famous Appian Way (Quo Vadis), Caracalla Baths, and a visit to the Catacombs. Then stroll through the historical centre to see the Pantheon, hidden secrets, famous fountains and piazzas. These are just some of the Must See sights which you will experience on this inspiring tour of Rome.

  • TURIN

    • + ITALY S UNKNOWN CAPITAL From its ancient cafes to its royal palace and the famous Turin Shroud (you will see the official replica), Italy's first capital has a plethora of treasures. Your local guide will reveal the secrets of its Savoy past on an afternoon passegiata with a treat.

  • VENICE

    • + LAGOON CRUISE WITH LUNCH OR DINNER Take some time off the beaten track! We are taken by private boat to the nearby islands in the lagoon of Venice. See the island of Murano where the glass blowers live. Lunch or dinner is taken at the picturesque 'Island of the fishermen', Burano, famous for its multicoloured houses and a photographer's paradise. Drinks are also included.

    • + MAJESTIC VENICE Explore hidden parts of the maze of streets which make up this unique city. Your local guide will give you fascinating insights into Venice's past and present, through the eyes of a local. A visit to the majestic basilica of St Mark reveals some of its treasures. Behind closed doors we will view some of the prized trophies looted by the Venetians in their rise to power, or alternatively we will visit the outside terrace for exceptional vistas of this remarkable city on water.
