    ARRIVE LIMA (2 NIGHTS)

    Bienvenidos a Lima, the city conquistador Francisco Pizarro founded in 1535 and dubbed the “City of Kings.” Upon arrival, a local host will greet you and take you to your luxury hotel in chic Miraflores (check in time 3 p.m.).

    LIMA FREE TIME & SIGHTSEEING

    This morning is yours to discover the vibrant city of Lima. Start your guided holiday today with a Be My Guest Welcome Reception experience in the lovely colonial home of Dr. Diez Canseco. Join your Travel Director and fellow travelling companions on a grand tour of the estate followed by a homemade lunch of Peruvian dishes. Later, explore Peru's capital city with a Local Expert. Visit Lima's Plaza San Martin, home to the Archbishop's Palace and stately Cathedral where you can view Francisco Pizarro's tomb. Stop by the Church of San Francisco and its catacombs before enjoying some free time this evening.

  • Day 3

    LIMA – CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY

    Fly to Cusco this morning and meet your Local Expert before travelling to the Sacred Valley. After a short drive, arrive at Awanakancha with its well-recognised native alpacas, llamas and vicuñas and also see artisan weavers crafting textiles, a Local Speciality. Enjoy a box picnic lunch and revel in the delights of the colourful handicraft market of Pisac. Later, learn about chicha at a local chicheria to taste and learn about this Local Speciality. Tonight, be welcomed at your haven in the heart of the Andes mountains.

    SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU

    Enjoy full, panoramic views of the valley floor and Andes as you climb toward Machu Picchu aboard the Vistadome train (light snack included). Upon arrival, discover the amazing ruins of this once-great fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site with a Local Expert. Visit the Sacred Plaza, the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, and the intricately carved Intihuatana.

    MACHU PICCHU – OLLANTAYTAMBO – CUSCO (2 NIGHTS)

    This morning, there is time to continue your exploration on your own at the ancient Inca city. Magnificent views abound after a hike up to the Gate of the Sun. Visit the best surviving example of Incan planning, Ollantaytambo, after travelling back to the Sacred Valley with a Local Expert. Later this afternoon, arrive in Cusco, where your Authentic Accommodation is a beautifully renovated 18th century manor house just three blocks from Cusco's Plaza de Armas.

    CUSCO SIGHTSEEING & FREE TIME

    Cusco's sights will amaze you! Join a Local Expert for an exploration and visit the Cathedral, a beautiful example of colonial architecture. See San Blas, an area with a variety of exceptional Inca walls and cobble stone streets, before a visit to La Casa Concha Museum, a Unique Insight. Peruse archeologist Hiram Bingham's 360 artefacts which were recently sent back to Peru from Yale University. Head to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive ruin site towering over Cusco. Back at the hotel, Peter Frost, a Local Expert and archaeologist, shares his expertise about the nearby Inca settlements.

  • Day 7

    CUSCO SIGHTSEEING – JULIACA – PUNO (2 NIGHTS)

    After breakfast, a Local Expert leads a walking tour of the most significant temple in the Inca Empire – The Temple of Korikancha. Sample local cuisine and have lunch at a Cusquenian restaurant. Later, travel to Puno, with a Local Expert, and see the amazing shores of Lake Titicaca after a flight to Juliaca. Views of the lake at sunset will take your breath away.

    LAKE TITICACA EXCURSION

    Today, a Local Expert reveals the myths and marvels of beautiful Lake Titicaca on a cruise over the serene waters. Explore the floating islands constructed out of reeds by the Uros Indians. A private tour of Taquile Island follows. Meet the local Quechua-speaking villagers, renowned for their knitting and weaving techniques. Discover the culture of the locals living on the island and relish a typical lunch before heading back to Puno.

  • Day 9

    PUNO – COLCA CANYON (2 NIGHTS)

    At Lagunillas, enjoy the spectacular views of tiny lagoons home to Andean flamingos and trout fishermen. Travel through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, with a Local Expert, where the delicate vicuña, a wild member of the South American camelid family, was rescued from extinction in the 1970s.  Drive up to the Patapampa Pass (4800 metres) and enjoy stunning views of snow-capped mountains and volcanoes and enjoy a box picnic lunch.  Upon arrival at the hotel, relax or visit the resort's spa and indoor/outdoor pool.

    COLCA CANYON SIGHTSEEING

    Rise early and meet with your Local Expert to explore the spectacular works of Mother Nature at Colca Canyon, the world's deepest canyon and home to the planet's largest flying bird–the Andean Condor. The canyon is also home to the world's highest active volcano mountain chain and is home to some of the oldest and purest Peruvian ethnic groups–the Collaguas and the Cabañas.  Marvel at the stunning views of the Colca River and Canyon, dotted with small villages on both banks, with quaint colonial churches, handicrafts markets and locals working ancient pre-Inca terraces. In season, spot the famous Andean Condor at the Cruz del Condor. Continue on to visit the town of Cabañaconde and see its impressive church. Along the way back to the hotel, visit the little towns of Macca and Yanque and see the “Mirador de Antahuilque” lookout point.

  • Day 11

    COLCA CANYON – AREQUIPA

    After having discovered one side of the Colca River, a Local Expert shares the other side with a visit to Corporaque. Learn more about how the local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped terraces. Stretch your legs on a walk to the Puente Chininia Bridge to see “Colcas”–food storage "refrigerators"–carved into the nearby cliffs. Another short walk brings you to see the Uyo Uyo ruins. After some time for an early lunch or snack, travel back to Arequipa. Arrive at your Authentic Accommodation, Casa Andina Private Collection Arequipa, located on the old "Casa de la Moneda" (old Mint), a national historic landmark built in 1794, more a living museum than a hotel. Celebrate your guided exploration with newfound friends tonight at a Farewell Dinner at a renowned local restaurant.

    AREQUIPA – LIMA

    This morning, explore the charming secrets of Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as “The White City,” with a Local Expert. The Carmen Alto district presents beautiful views of the city and volcanoes. See the exterior of Arequipa's Cathedral and the three portals of the Plaza de Armas. Afterward, visit the complex of the Company of Jesuits, a component of the baroque Spanish art of the 17th century. The city tour ends with the beautiful and romantic Santa Catalina Convent. Later, fly back to Lima.
