  • Day 3


    This morning a Local Expert will take you on a sightseeing tour of London. See Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. You are free later to explore and shop on your own in the center of London.

  • Day 4


    Meet your traveling companions and Travel Director before leaving London for the south coast town of Brighton. See the exotic pavilion, built for the Prince Regent who later became King George IV. Walk through The Lanes, a shopping area full of quaint and quirky shops and cafes. Stroll along the seafront or even onto the famous Pier. Later, arrive in Southampton where you join your Travel Director and fellow companions to enjoy a Welcome Reception in a typical English pub.

  • Day 5


    Travel through the beautiful New Forest to mystical Stonehenge where you visit the ancient stone circle. Cross Salisbury Plain through lush countryside to the historic naval city of Plymouth for a two night stay. View the Mayflower steps, where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World and see the Royal Citadel overlooking Plymouth Sound during your orientation of the city. This afternoon, you might like to join an optional cruise around the historic harbour.

  • Day 6


    The rugged Cornish coast is famous for smugglers' coves and quaint fishing villages, which you will see on the way to Land's End, the most westerly point in England. Visit St. Ives, a beautiful resort popular with artists and tourists. Enjoy views of St. Michael's Mount near Penzance. Cross Bodmin Moor, dominated by dramatic granite tors, on your way back to Plymouth. Dine tonight in your hotel.

  • Day 7


    Visit the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey and see the legendary burial site of King Arthur. On arrival in the city of Bath, admire the Georgian buildings and visit the Roman Baths after which the city is named. Enjoy a scenic drive to Bristol. This evening offers an opportunity to join an optional experience to the idyllic village of Lacock to enjoy dinner in a traditional English inn.

  • Day 8


    This morning we travel to the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Visit the birthplace and visitor centre of William Shakespeare, with time to explore the city or enjoy a leisurely lunch. Later, enjoy a picturesque drive through the Welsh Marches to Llandrindod Wells. Enjoy an extra special Be My Guest experience at a Victorian Gothic Revival mansion overlooking the ruins of a 12th century Cistercian Abbey. Enjoy drinks and canapés before a guided tour of the house and gardens. Dine tonight at your hotel.

  • Day 9


    Take in the breath-taking views of North Wales as you travel through Snowdonia National Park. Visit the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed which attracts many artists who appreciate its natural beauty.  In Caernarfon visit the ancient castle built by Edward I.  In 1969 this was the setting for the investiture of Prince Charles to become the current Prince of Wales. A scenic drive along the North Wales Coast will bring you to Manchester, a city famous for its industrial heritage and immense creative output.

    This morning visit Chester and see the 'Rows' and the Cathedral during your walking orientation. In your free time why not walk the impressive city walls. Manchester was the heart of textile manufacturing during the Industrial Revolution, so an included visit to Quarry Bank Mill a National Trust property gives a Unique Insight into how communities lived during this period.

  • Day 11


    Travel north through characteristically glorious scenery, from Lancashire to the Lake District. Travelling along the shores of England's largest lake, Windermere, and through countryside that inspired the Romantic poets, you reach Grasmere. View the grave of William Wordsworth, buried at St. Oswald's Church. We cross the Scottish border and visit Gretna Green, where eloping couples would say their vows over the anvil. This afternoon, your orientation tour of Glasgow includes views of the Cathedral, the magnificent George Square and the River Clyde, former heart of the shipbuilding industry.

    Journey along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, immortalised in the well-known Scottish song, towards the site of the 1692 massacre, Glencoe − 'Glen of the Weeping'. At the Commando Memorial near Fort William, see breath-taking views of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

  • Day 13


    Travel through Inverness, known as the capital of The Highlands and along the banks of the famous Loch Ness. View Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Visit the Clan Donald Centre and the Museum of the Isles, where you can trace your genealogy or explore the wonderful gardens. Later take the ferry to Mallaig and continue your journey through the lochs and glens of the Scottish Highlands to your hotel.

    Heading south, stop in the picturesque village of Pitlochry. Enjoy a Local Speciality with an included visit to a whisky distillery to sample a 'wee dram' before heading to the historic town of St. Andrews, the home of golf. Take a photograph on the 18th hole of the Old Course, where the game was first played 600 years ago! Cross the Firth of Forth to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, your home for the next two nights.

    This morning, your Local Expert takes you on a sightseeing tour of this wonderful city, including a visit to Edinburgh Castle, perched high above the city. See the Royal Mile, the elegant Palace of Holyroodhouse in the shadow of Arthur's Seat and the new Scottish Parliament building. Admire the elegant Georgian architecture in the New Town. Tonight, why not enjoy an optional night out including traditional song, dance and Scottish fare? During the Edinburgh Festival, tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo in the castle grounds are included.

    Visit the medieval market town of Alnwick. See the impressive castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, and the Tenantry Column, topped by the Percy Lion. View Durham Castle and Cathedral, both striking examples of Norman architecture. Tonight, dine at your hotel in the spa town of Harrogate.

    In York, your Travel Director will show you the magnificent Minster, the city walls and the famous Shambles on your orientation tour. Travel south to the market town of Melton Mowbray famous for traditional English delicacies such as Stilton Cheese and Pork Pies. Here enjoy a Local Speciality pie-making demonstration and tasting with a local pie-maker. Later arrive in the stunning university city of Cambridge. This evening, celebrate the conclusion of a memorable holiday with your fellow travellers at a Farewell Dinner. After dinner your Travel Director will take your and your travel companions for a Farewell Drink in a local pub.

    See the magnificent architecture of King’s College Chapel in the prestigious university city of Cambridge. Get an inside look at life as a student at one of these renowned colleges as you glide past the famous ‘backs’ on the River Cam with your Local Expert ‘chauffeur’ on a flat-bottomed boat known as a ‘punt’. This afternoon visit the Newmarket National Stud, devoted to thoroughbred horse breeding since 1916 where you will gain a Unique Insight into the raising of thoroughbred champions. Arrive in London in the early evening.
