    Welcome to London! Relax or spend time exploring this fascinating city.

  • Day 3


    See the famous sights including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace on your included half day sightseeing tour with a Local Guide. The rest of your day is free for shopping or exploring.

    Meet your travelling companions and Travel Director before passing through the ‘Garden of England’ en-route to visit the cathedral city of Canterbury. View the oldest cathedral in England and explore the cobbled streets and castle walls during your city orientation.Later, see the exotic Royal Pavilion in the lively town of Brighton on England’s south coast. Walk along the famous pier or explore its Regency Squares, before heading to the city of Southampton. This evening, meet your companions and Travel Director for a Welcome Pub Reception, which includes a typical British pub meal and drinks.

    Travel through the beautiful New Forest to mystical Stonehenge where you visit the ancient stone circle.Cross Salisbury Plain through lush countryside to the historic naval city of Plymouth for a two night stay. View the Mayflower steps, where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World and see the Royal Citadel overlooking Plymouth Sound during your orientation of the city. This afternoon, you might like to join an optional cruise around the historic harbour. Dine tonight at your hotel.

    The rugged Cornish coast is famous for smugglers’ coves and quaint fishing villages, which you will see on the way to Land’s End, the most westerly point in England. Visit St. Ives, a beautiful resort popular with artists and tourists. Enjoy views of St. Michael’s Mount near Penzance. Cross Bodmin Moor, dominated by dramatic granite tors, on your way back to Plymouth.

    Visit the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey and see the legendary burial site of King Arthur. On arrival in the city of Bath, admire the Georgian buildings and visit the Roman Baths after which the city is named. Spend some time exploring the city before making your way to Bristol. After a short orientation of the city, check into your hotel. This evening offers an opportunity to join an excursion to the idyllic village of Lacock to enjoy dinner in a traditional English inn.

    This morning we travel to the town of Stratford-upon-Avon.Visit the birthplace and visitor centre of William Shakespeare, with time to explore the city or enjoy a leisurely lunch. Later, enjoy a picturesque drive through the Welsh Marches to Llandrindod Wells. Enjoy an extra special Be My Guest experience at a Victorian Revival Gothic mansion overlooking the ruins of a 12th century Cistercian Abbey. Enjoy drinks and canapés before a guided tour of the house and gardens. Dine tonight at your hotel.

    Drive through glorious Welsh countryside to Llangollen, home of the International Eisteddfod, on the banks of the River Dee. Later, travel the scenic Horseshoe Pass towards Chester for some of the most spectacular views across north Wales. View the ‘Rows’, the city walls and the Cathedral during your walking orientation of Chester. See Old Trafford and the impressive Town Hall in Manchester, a city famous for its industrial heritage and immense creative output. Dine tonight at your hotel.

  • Day 10


    Travel the beautiful North Wales coast to the Island of Anglesey. See the tiny railway station with the longest place name in Europe: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Cross the Menai Straits to visit one of the most impressive castles in Wales, historic Caernarvon Castle, which gained worldwide fame as the setting for the investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales. Pass through Snowdonia en route to your hotel. Enjoy spectacular views of the ancient mountain landscape.

  • Day 11


    Travel north through characteristically glorious scenery, from Lancashire to the Lake District. Travelling along the shores of England’s largest lake, Windermere, and through countryside that inspired the Romantic poets, you reach Grasmere. View the grave of William Wordsworth, buried at St. Oswald’s Church. We cross the Scottish border and visit Gretna Green, where eloping couples would say their vows over the anvil. This afternoon, your orientation tour of Glasgow includes views of the Cathedral, the magnificent George Square and the River Clyde, former heart of the shipbuilding industry. Celebrate your first night in Scotland with a Highlight Dinner in a local restaurant.

    Journey along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, immortalised in the well-known Scottish song, towards the site of the 1692 massacre, Glencoe − ‘Glen of the Weeping’. At the Commando Memorial near Fort William, see breath-taking views of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

    Travel via the lochs and glens of the Scottish Highlands,taking the Skye Bridge, with its views of picturesque Eilean Donan Castle, to the Isle of Skye, renowned for its spectacular scenery. Visit the Clan Donald Centre and the Museum of the Isles. Discover the history of the Kingdom of the Isles, trace your genealogy, or explore the gardens before returning to Mallaig by ferry. View Loch Ness en route back to your hotel. Dine tonight at your hotel in the Scottish Highlands.

    Heading south, stop in the picturesque village of Pitlochry. Enjoy an included visit to a whisky distillery to sample a ‘wee dram’ before heading to the historic town of St. Andrews, the home of golf. Take a photograph on the 18th hole of the Old Course, where the game was first played 600 years ago! Cross the Firth of Forth to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, your home for the next two nights.

    This morning, your Local Guide takes you on a sightseeing tour of this wonderful city, including a visit to Edinburgh Castle, perched high above the city. See the Royal Mile, the elegant Holyrood House in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat and the new Scottish Parliament building. Admire the elegant Georgian architecture in the New Town. Tonight, why not enjoy an optional night out including traditional song, dance and Scottish fare? During the Edinburgh Festival, tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo in the castle grounds are included.

    Visit the medieval market town of Alnwick. See the impressive castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, and the Tenantry Column, topped by the Percy Lion.     In York, your Travel Director will show you the magnificent Minster, the city walls and the famous Shambles on your orientation tour. Travel south to the market town of Melton Mowbray famous for traditional English delicacies such as Stilton Cheese and Pork Pies. Here enjoy a Local Speciality pie-making demonstration and tasting with a local pie-maker. Later arrive in the stunning university city of Cambridge. This evening, celebrate the conclusion of a memorable holiday with your fellow travellers at a Farewell Dinner.

    See the magnificent architecture of King’s College Chapel. Glide past the famous ‘backs’ on the River Cam with your Local Expert ‘chauffeur’ on a flat-bottomed boat known as a ‘punt’. This afternoon visit the Newmarket National Stud, devoted to thoroughbred horse breeding since 1916 where you will gain a Unique Insight to the raising of thoroughbred champions. Arrive in London in the early evening.
