On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

• BRITTANY

  • + ST MALO EXCURSION An excursion to the prettiest walled port in Brittany. With a local guide we stroll along the medieval ramparts so that we can admire the aristocratic old houses of wealthy shipping merchants to one side and the scenery of the emerald coast to the other. Home of Jacques Cartier (perhaps the first man to reach Quebec) and of the great romantic, Châteaubriand. St.Malo is one of the jewels of France and not to be missed. There is more than one coastline in France!

• AMBOISE

  • + IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF LEONARDO DA VINCI Visit the Manor house and gardens where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years, preserved much as he left them on his death, almost 500 years ago. This guided tour culminates in a display of Leonardo's most extraordinary inventions - from submarines to helicopters. This was the only house the great master ever knew and could call his own.

  • + GIVERNEY HOUSE AND GARDENS OF CLAUDE MONET Visit this charming French house, with its spectacular gardens, the former home of the greatest Impressionist painter, Claude Monet, and inspiration for his magnificent 'waterlily' paintings. Our coach will drive us to the village of Giverny where we will enjoy a tour of this delightful house and garden with its internationally famous 'Japanese' bridge.

  • + SEINE CRUISE AND PARIS BY NIGHT Paris at night is a city transformed. Enjoy this superb 'city of light' as we take a leisurely cruise on the popular river boats under the bridges of Paris, admiring the wonderful buildings which adorn the banks of the River Seine. Afterwards, as we drive through this amazing city, we stop at some vantage points for you to capture these fascinating sights on camera. (In summer, this trip may take place before sunset).
