Enjoy the quaint scenery of the conservation heritage route of the Danish Riviera, passing through ancient fishing villages and modern marinas. Then through typical countryside to see Fredensborg Palace, summer residence of the Royal family before a visit to the magnificent 17th century Frederiksborg Castle. This evening we visit the fairy-tale village of Dragor with its thatched cottages and pretty working harbour. We wander by tiny houses, learn a little of the history and enjoy a taste of traditional Danish specialities. Then to the magic of twinkling lights at Copenhagen's most famous attraction, Tivoli Gardens.

First we head out along the fjord to visit Grieg's home, which was the inspiration for many of his masterworks. We enjoy a guided tour of the composer's villa. Then a tour or Bergen including a walk through the historical lanes of the Hanseatic town, and finally a trip up the hillside in the funicular railway for extensive views of the city.

+ WAR AND TRANQUILITY
Drive through delightful skerries to the lost village of Televag, destroyed when the Gestapo discovered the role the villagers played in the resistance. Visit the museum and then on to a traditional old Norwegian fishing village for coffee and local pancakes. (On certain departures this excursion will also include a guided visit of Fjell Fortress, a Nazi command bunker deep inside the mountain, with kitchens, a medical centre, saunas and dormitories.
