Optionals

On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • ROME

    • + ROMAN DELIGHTS An easy evening getting to know Rome and some of its main sights by coach. Followed by a delicious light dinner of Italian specialities. Music and Drinks included

    • + PANTHEON PIAZZA NAVONA LUNCH AND CASTEL SANT ANGELO We begin with a visit to the Pantheon, once a Roman Temple, now a Christian Church, then continue to Piazza Navona, where artists vie to create the best caricatures. After lunch (included) there will be an interior visit of the Castel Sant' Angelo. This fortress was built by the Popes from the existing Tomb of the Emperor Hadrian. It overlooks the Tiber, with wonderful views over Rome from the roof terrace. Your local guide will bring its rich and complicated past to life.

    • + ROMAN EVENING WITH DINNER A light hearted evening in Rome. We will relax and enjoy a typical Italian meal (drinks included), while live musicians entertain us. To complete our evening, we will drive along the Via Veneto, a location made famous by the film 'La Dolce Vita' and see how the Romans enjoy their city. A wonderful end to our day.

  • ATHENS

    • + TRADITIONAL GREEK TAVERNA MEAL WITH ENTERTAINMENT This is an evening excursion to a taverna in the centre of Athens. Excellent traditional Greek food in a lively atmosphere, entertained through dances and music from all parts of the country. Wine, beer and soft drinks are also included. Although the venue does have an official ending time, clients are more than welcome to stay on in the taverna, to join in with the local residents! (Casual dress)

    • + ONE DAY CRUISE AEGINA POROS AND HYDRA It's just a short 20 minute drive to Flisvos harbour where you will board your ship for a memorable full day cruise to the three Saronic Gulf Islands of Aegina, Hydra and Poros. The cruise ship is fully equipped with bars, dance floor, inside/outside seating, money exchange, gift shop, restaurant, air conditioning/heating etc. Lunch with a glass of wine is included in the price and in the afternoon there is also a small show to keep you entertained for the return journey.

    • + DELPHI FULL DAY WITH LUNCH With its site raised on the slopes of a high mountain terrace and dwarfed on either side by the great and ominous crags of Parnassus, it's easy to see why the ancients believed Delphi to be the centre of the universe. Confirmation of a divine presence was achieved through the discovery of a rock chasm that exudes strange vapours and reduced all visitors to frenzied, incoherent and undoubtedly prophetic mutterings, whilst consulting the Oracle! Visit the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Stadium and the Temple, as well as the museum of Delphi - home to over 10,000 artefacts, including the famous bronze Charioteer. In addition, you will also pass through the typical mountain Greek village of Arachova - famous for its cheese, matured in nearby caves, and for its flokati rugs.

    • + WALKING TOUR AND DINNER IN PSIRI This is an evening excursion including a stroll around the Acropolis on the finest pedestrian street in Athens centre and a memorable dinner in a restaurant located in the lively area of Psiri. Dining is "meze style", giving you the opportunity to taste many modern Greek dishes. Psiri is within walking distance from the Plaka area.

  • ISTANBUL

    • + ISTANBUL BY NIGHT Take part in the entertainment and night life at one of the finest nightclubs of the city. Depart by motor coach and take a short drive through the illuminated streets of Istanbul before you arrive at the Kervansaray Night Club, a well-known Istanbul establishment. Enjoy a variety of Turkish specialties while you are entertained by Turkish musicians, belly dancers and folk dancers, performing dances from different regions of Turkey. At the end of the show, join in, as familiar and favourite songs are sung.

    • + HALF DAY BOSPHORUS CRUISE No stay should be completed without this traditional and unforgettable cruise by boat along the Bosphorus, the winding strait separating Europe and Asia. Along the shores is a delightful mixture of the modern hotels, ancient wooden villas, palaces of marble, fortress and small fishing villages.
