A warm welcome from your tour director on your arrival into Rome is followed by a private coach transfer into the city centre to check into your hotel. Later in the afternoon you will gather together with your Tour Director for a welcome drink and a chance to meet your travelling companions. Tonight you will enjoy a welcome dinner at your hotel. Overnight Rome (Dinner)

Day 3 – 12 AUGUST 2010 – Rome
Our first highlight today is a guided visit of the Sistine Chapel, enhanced by the use of our audio system used by our local guide, where we can gaze in awe at Michelangelo’s beautiful painted ceiling. Next we visit St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, and then cross the Tiber to ancient Rome where we will overlook the Forum and visit the Colosseum, infamous for gladiatorial combat and we also see the Circus Maximus where chariot races were held. After, enjoy time on your own and later maybe try out some Roman cuisine in a typical trattoria and watch Rome go by! Overnight Rome (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 4 – 13 AUGUST 2010 – Rome – Greve in Chianti - Florence
This morning we travel into the northern Lazio region and continue over the border into the rolling hills of Umbria and into Tuscany where we visit the capital of its food and wine – the charming town of Greve. Here we visit a wine and olive oil outlet where we can taste a plethora of excellent Chiantis and extra virgin olive oils. On the town’s main square are some of the finest food shops in Europe where you have the chance to taste ‘salumi’. An included lunch at a loval winery. Finally after an exhilarating drive through the Chianti hills we arrive at our hotel in Florence. This evening we enjoy a dinner at a local trattoria. Overnight Florence (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Highlight Dinner)

Day 5 – 14 AUGUST 2010 – Florence & Pisa
After breakfast, we will enjoy a walking tour with a local guide, using our effective audio system, which takes us to the Accademia to see the recently restored ‘David’ of Michelangelo as well as Piazza Signoria and the multi coloured marble Duomo. We will also visit the Basilica of the Holy Cross where so many of the great men of Italy are buried, including Michelangelo. After our tour we drive to an authentic Tuscan restaurant, beautifully located amongst the olive groves, where we have the chance to taste the local produce as we enjoy a delicious lunch together. Following lunch we continue to the once maritime city of Pisa where we visit the Square of Miracles with its monuments in the square before returning to Florence late afternoon. Overnight Florence (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 6 – 15 AUGUST 2010 – Florence – Bologna - Venice
Leaving Florence this morning we head to Bologna, famous for its university, architecture, fine sausages and hams. Bologna is a feast for the senses and the stomach! Here a sightseeing tour with a local guide shows us Neptune’s fountain, the Kissing Towers and Piazza Maggiore. Later we drive to the magical floating city of Venice. Tonight we will dine at the hotel. Overnight Venice (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 – 16 AUGUST 2010 - Venice
After breakfast this morning our visit to the magical city of Venice would not be complete without an orientation cruise by private motor launch along the Gudecca and over to St Mark’s Square. Here we will witness a demonstration of the ancient art of Murano glass making in one of the city’s oldest workshops. We then enjoy a relaxing gondola cruise around the canals. Then there’s time on your own to enjoy this beautiful city. This evening we gather with our Tour Director and fellow companions to celebrate our last night with a special farewell dinner with wine at a local restaurant. Overnight Venice (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

Day 8 – 17 AUGUST 2010 – Dept Venice
