What to see in Munich?

1. Marienplatz: Munich’s historical centre, Marienplatz, contains the New Town Hall and famous glockenspiel whose life-size figures perform a Schäfferltanz (or cooper’s dance) three times a day in summer. It is also the location for the magical Munich Christmas markets held throughout the month of December.
2. Hofbräuhaus: Mozart claims to have written the opera Idomeneo after several steins at the Hofbräuhaus and you too can be inspired by a visit to one of Munich’s oldest breweries.
3. Ludwigstrasse: Browse the boutiques, take in the Bavarian architecture or enjoy a drink at a café and watch the world go by on Munich’s largest thoroughfare.
4. Olympiastadion: Built for the 1972 Summer Olympics, the Munich Olympic Stadium now plays host to sporting events and concerts.
5. BMW Museum: Interactive displays take visitors through the various phases of BMW design from their 1920s motorbikes and cars right through to futuristic prototypes.
