Holiday in Athens – Your guide to Athens, Greece

What to see in Athens?

  1. Acropolis: This plateau high above the city is the location of such famous Athens tourist attractions as the Parthenon and Temple of Athena Nike. The views across the city are spectacular and no visit to Athens would be complete without seeing the Acropolis.
  2. Temple of Zeus: What was once the largest temple in all of Greece is now reduced to a small collection of standing columns. The scale and magnificence of the Temple of Zeus is still evident when visiting this important Athens site.
  3. Hadrian’s Arch: The Roman Emperor Hadrian erected this symbolic arch in 131 AD to mark the boundary of ancient Athens and the new Roman city of Hadrian. It is now a popular landmark on a tour of Athens.
  4. Agora: Once the centre of culture, justice and administration in ancient Greece, the Agora is a touchstone to the everyday life of Athens’ past and a great addition to your sightseeing.
  5. Panathenaic Stadium: This ancient stadium was reconstructed for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and is now the oldest stadium in the world that is still in use.
