Facts About Bologna

 

Many would call Bologna the food capital of Italy; the local dishes are hearty and full of flavour. Tortellini in brodo (filled pasta in broth), mortadella (spiced cured pork) arrosto di vitello (roast veal) and, of course, the various types of pasta alla Bolognese (meaty sauce) are among the specialties. Do watch out, as ccasionally meat from horse and donkey feature on the menu.

Sweets are often flavoured with almonds, honey or spices - tastes that were popular during the of Renaissance.
