Like most Italians, the inhabitants of Verona take their food very seriously. As well as traditional Italian fayre some typical Veronese dishes include:
Pastissada de caval - horsemeat stew
Boiled beef with ‘pearà’ (bread and pepper) sauce
Pasta e fagioli – pasta with beans
Sfogliatine – sweet flaky pastry biscuits
Excellent wines such as Valpolicella, Recioto, Soave, Bardolino and Custoz are widely available
