Statue of Liberty - The definitive symbol of New York, this enormous statue was a gift from the French to the United States to celebrate the 1879 Centenary. Tours can be taken around the statue and inside.
Central Park - New Yorkers love Central Park. It's an enormous green zone frequented by skaters, joggers, musicians and tourists, as well as some quieter areas. There is also a small zoo in the park.
Empire State Building - A skyscraper with a romantic soul. Built during the depression, this elegant symbol of New York's skyline stands 102 storeys high. The view over New York is awesome, by day or night.
Ground Zero - The sight of the September 11 attacks on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre, this spot has become a sight of remembrance and memorial for New Yorkers and tourists.
Times Square - Considered to be the crossroads of New York City, Times Square is filled with massive billboards, message boards and TV screens.
