Destination guide: Sao Paulo

The city’s many shopping malls  known as “shoppings”, are chocca full of Brazilian department stores, where you can pick up cheap and stylish clothing and accessories. Avoid imported items as these tend to be overpriced.
The majority of shopping malls can be found on the Southern Region (Zona Sul) although there are malls dotted around the entire city.
Visit Central Market, a buzzing food market for fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and meat as well as a good selection of cachaca – Brazil’s national (alcoholic) drink.
