It's Insider moments like… tracing the steps of Mr Darcy in the village where Pride and Prejudice was filmed, and seeing the spots that were captured in the Harry Potter movies – and imagining the magical tales spun about this place which has been barely touched by time. It's taking in the dramatic Cornish coastline where smugglers used to thrive. And, after seeing local artists' work on display at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, it's crossing rugged Dartmoor and hearing legends on your way to the burial site of King Arthur.

On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • PLYMOUTH

    • + Dartmoor Excursion And Dinner A scenic drive across the mysterious moors takes us to the capital of the moors, Princetown. Here we see the infamous prison before driving to a lovely old Inn for a drink and a delicious home-cooked dinner followed by stories and legends about the area. We then head back to Plymouth.

    • + Plymouth Harbour Cruise A boat trip round the harbour of one of England's most famous seaports. View the Mayflower steps, where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America, and ships sailed for Australia, New Zealand and Newfoundland. See panoramic vistas of Plymouth Hoe, site of Drake's legendary game of bowls. Into the Royal Navy Dockyard and a chance to see some of the modern vessels of the Royal Navy. A commentary is given by the skipper.

    • + Forgotten Cornwall And Dinner Leaving the hotel we head down to the oldest part of Plymouth, 'Stonehouse'. Here we leave the coach and take a 7-minute ferry ride across the River Tamar to Cornwall and the village of Cremyll. Dinner tonight is in the old Cornish inn, the Edgcumbe Arms, situated 25 yards from the ferry pier. Enjoy a meal, with a main course from the Carvery. After dinner we will rejoin our touring coach to take a drive along the beautiful coast known as 'Rame Head', for stunning views, before returning to Plymouth via the Torpoint car ferry.

  • BRISTOL

    • + SS Great Britain See Brunel's famous GWR Temple Meads Station and the Clifton Suspension Bridge before visiting what was once the largest ship in the World. Launched in 1843, the SS Great Britain was a world record breaker of the 19th century. Surely one of Britain's great national treasures, an opportunity not to be missed.

  • WINDSOR

    • + Windsor Castle Take a private guided tour of Windsor Castle, with entrance to the State Apartments included. Inside the apartments you will have the use of an individual audio guide. NB. On Sundays, St George's Chapel is closed to the public.
