  • Description: Chilled island life meets ancient history and cultural diversity - French Corsica and Italian Sardinia are revealed in a relaxed taste of two unique islands. It's Insider moments like… running your fingers across the sun-warmed stone of the 'nuraghi' at Su Nuraxi, an ancient site with a defence system unique to Sardinia. Narrow walls and cool alleys give way to bright blue sky, as you wander within the ruins listening to stories of the life in the village 2,800 years ago. Then meeting the modern locals in Alghero at Piera and Gavino's farm. Welcomed by the family, you indulge in home-grown organic produce, sampling traditional recipes in the warmth of Sardinian hospitality.

This megalithic complex was established in the late 2nd millennium B.C. during the Bronze Age. It remained buried until 1949, when a massive flood washed away the earth surrounding the upper section. It is regarded as the finest and most complete example of this remarkable form of prehistoric architecture in the world. Continue on to Alghero, a beautiful town with a strong Spanish influence.

This is where the young Napoleon suffered the first defeat of his military career after islanders withstood a three-day siege launched from Corsica.
