On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • CAIRO

    • + SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW AMONGST THE PYRAMIDS Enjoy the marvellous sight of the Pyramids and Sphinx illuminated against the night sky, and hear the story of the ancient days of the Pharaohs accompanied by a haunting musical background. Approx 50 mins. All seated.

    • + DINNER ON CRUISING RESTAURANT A two-hour Nile cruise on a luxurious ship, with dinner and a belly-dancing show included. (Drinks not included.) (NB. During Ramadan, no alcohol or belly dancers).

  • SHARM EL SHEIKH

    • + FULL DAY TO LUXOR WEDNESDAY Departure in the early morning, when you will be transferred to the airport for a flight lasting approximately one hour. On arrival in Luxor, your Local Guide will meet you to visit the Valley of the Kings where you will find about 62 tombs scattered on the sides and branches of the valley, some of which are visited more frequently than others. The tombs are numbered according to the order in which they were discovered. Some tombs are closed for restoration or renovation but normally you will visit three different tombs. (Entrance to the tomb of Tutankhamun is not included, and may be paid on the spot by guests who are interested.) Then you will continue to visit Queen Hatshepsut's funerary temple which is built at the bottom of sheer cliffs on Luxor's west bank in a wonderful site. The chief temple was built by Queen Hatshepsut and other constructions were added by other rulers. Then visit the 'Colossi of Memnon'. These seated mighty works originally belonged to King Amenhotep III. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. Then cross the River Nile to the east bank to visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple after which you will board your flight back to Sharm El Sheikh. Please remember to bring suitable clothes, comfortable shoes, camera and your passport.

    • + FULL DAY TO ST CATHERINE S MONASTERY AND DAHAB OASIS DAILY EXCEPT FRIDAY AND SUNDAY This famous monastery is located at the foot of Jebel Musa (Moses), or Mount Sinai. It is named after Saint Catherine, whose bones are buried in the basilica . The Greek-orthodox monastery was founded in the 6th Century by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian. Sightseeing will take you into the chapel of the burning bush and by the well of Moses where you will find carved statues with mosaics and well paintings which date to the Fatimid period. There are two towers beside the church, the bell-tower built of sandstone, and the mosque, which was erected in the beginning of the Islamic epoch. Outside the monastery walls you will visit the Skull House. After the visit, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant on our way back to Sharm when we will visit Dahab, an oasis with palm trees, between sea and desert. You will also enjoy some free time to wander around its bazaar area.

    • + FULL DAY BOAT TRIP TO RAS MOHAMMED NATIONAL PARK WITH SNORKELING OPTION DAILY WEATHER PERMITTING Enjoy a full day snorkeling by boat into the national sea park of Ras Mohammed. Transfer to the jetty and enjoy a trip on a boat for around one and half hours to Ras Mohammed National Park. Go snorkeling in the most wonderful underwater world in the Red Sea for another one and a half hours and discover the coral reef. The Red Sea has around 100 different types of corals and over 1000 different types of fish. Enjoy your delicious lunch on the boat, then visit the reef of Ras Ghoslani at the entrance of Gulf of Aqaba. On the way back snorkel in Ras Um El Seed for one hour. Then return with the boat to the Jetty and back to our hotel. NB. Snorkeling equipment not included, your local host will advise on hire charges.
