  • Day 1

    ARRIVE FRANKFURT

    Welcome to Germany and the start of your magical trip to experience the festive markets! Each year in November and December the atmosphere builds through Germany with the start of Christmas celebrations. Towns and villages are decorated, Christmas markets open in cities and the wonderful smell of “Stollen” (Christmas cake) and “Glühwein” (mulled wine) is to be found around every corner. This afternoon after check-in, your Travel Director will take you on an orientation tour of the city’s dynamic financial centre and medieval Römerplatz. Later, meet again with your fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception with drinks and a light meal.

  • Day 2

    FRANKFURT – WÜRZBURG – ROTHENBURG – NUREMBERG

    The first visit this morning is to Würzburg on the banks of the River Main. This city is renowned for its art and architectural heritage. The Residence Castle, a baroque masterpiece, has been listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is here in the heart of Würzburg’s Old Town that you will have time to explore the charming markets made up of approximately 140 beautifully decorated wooden stalls. Upon arrival in Rothenburg in the afternoon, your Travel Director will take you on an orientation walk to see the most well-preserved medieval town in Germany. Sights include half-timbered houses and the old town hall. Continue to Nuremberg, where you can admire the mighty ramparts, a bustling market place and St. Sebald’s Cathedral on your orientation tour of the city.

    NUREMBERG – EISENACH (WARTBURG CASTLE) – ERFURT

    A very special Christmas market is held in the courtyard of the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Wartburg Castle in Eisenach. During Advent you can explore and enjoy typical German food, beverages, crafts, music and entertainment. Later travel to see the largest Christmas market in the province of Thuringia. This medieval market takes place on Cathedral Square in Erfurt with the impressive background of St Mary’s Cathedral and St. Severus Church. These form the perfect backdrop for more than 200 stalls and a big Ferris wheel. See the 120m long Merchants’ Bridge (Krämerbrücke) which has 32 houses along its length – the longest inhabited bridge in Europe. Dine tonight at your hotel.

    ERFURT – WEIMAR – DRESDEN (2 NIGHTS)

    In 1816, Weimar hosted the first public Christmas tree, erected on the Market Square for children whose parents could not afford their own. Spend time enjoying the festive spirit at this Christmas market. Later travel to Dresden − known as ‘Florence on the Elbe’. See the highlights of this astonishing Renaissance city including the Opera House and Zwinger Palace.

    FULL DAY AT DRESDEN CHRISTMAS MARKET

    A blaze of lights, the smell of mulled wine and Christmas songs pervade the city centre: The Dresden Striezelmarkt, Germany’s oldest Christmas market, opens its gates for you. On the second weekend in advent, during the Stollen feast, the people from Dresden pay homage to the Christmas pastry from Dresden, the original Dresdner Christstollen. On the 3rd weekend of advent, the Pyramid feast takes place. Taste typical Saxon delicacies and buy traditional handicraft in the heart of this Baroque city. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere!

  • Day 6

    DRESDEN – LEIPZIG – BERLIN (2 NIGHTS)

    Just as it was 500 years ago, the Leipzig Christmas market blends into the fascinating, historic backdrop of Leipzig city centre. With more than 250 originally decorated stalls, it lives up to its reputation as one of the biggest and most interesting Christmas markets in Germany. The greatest attraction is the worlds’ largest free-standing Advent calendar. After time to explore you will later make your way to Berlin - one of the most vibrant and fascinating cities in Europe.

    BERLIN SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME

    This morning enjoy a Unique Insight experience with fantastic 360° views of the city from the Berlin TV Tower. Marvel at the landmarks of the old East and West sections of Berlin during your sightseeing tour with your Local Guide. See the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden Boulevard, the German State Opera House, Reichstag Building, Tiergarten and the shopping and entertainment district of Kurfürstendamm. Spend the rest of your day exploring on your own and shopping for souvenirs! This evening, join your companions and Travel Director for a delicious festive Farewell Dinner with wine.

  • Day 8

    DEPART BERLIN
