    ARRIVE LOS ANGELES

    Welcome to Los Angeles! After checking in at your hotel on the water in Long Beach, explore the exciting city before gathering back at the hotel at 6 p.m. with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

    LOS ANGELES – PALM SPRINGS

    Head towards Palm Springs this morning and stop at the Coachella Valley Preserve where you will learn all about the thriving agriculture and taste a delicious date shake, a Local Speciality. Board the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the world's largest rotating gondola, for a ride up the mountain offering you spectacular views of the valley below. Enjoy the evening to explore on your own.

    PALM SPRINGS – SCOTTSDALE

    Bid farewell to Palm Springs and cross into the state of Arizona. Arrive in Scottsdale, often called "the West's most western town" where your hotel is superbly located right in the heart of the city in walking distance to dozens of restaurants, shops and art galleries. The evening is yours to explore.

    SCOTTSDALE – SEDONA – GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK

    Travel to the artist's enclave of Sedona. Visit the historic sites and landmarks while taking in the beauty of this red-rock landscape. Drive through Oak Creek Canyon gazing at the red cliffs and crystal pools below. Travel north to the Grand Canyon. Upon arrival, meet with a Local Expert who will walk you through the geologic life of the canyon—you'll become a rock expert yourself as you examine the multi-coloured rocks from different eras of the canyon's formation. Gather this evening to watch the sunset and the fading light gilding the canyon and casting enchanting shadows.

    GRAND CANYON – ZION NATIONAL PARK

    Ferd Grofe, the famed American composer, was so stunned by the spectacular beauty of the sunrise over the Grand Canyon that he composed his Grand Canyon Suite in 1931. But all you have to do is watch—and maybe whistle—in amazement as the skies glow and brighten with the coming day. Bid farewell to this natural wonder of the world and hit the road towards Zion National Park.

    ZION NATIONAL PARK – LAS VEGAS (2 NIGHTS)

    Explore Zion National Park this morning. Marvel at the graceful slot canyons, towering cliffs and awe-inspiring monoliths before departing towards the neon lights of Sin City—fabulous Las Vegas. Upon arrival, the night is yours: try your luck at the tables, take in a show, or just get out and enjoy all the sights and lights on the Strip.

    LAS VEGAS FREE TIME

    The day is yours and the choices are endless! Hit the casinos, dine at one of the elegant restaurants that have put Vegas on the culinary map, or enjoy one of many extravagant shows. Looking for a souvenir? Vegas is packed full of guilty pleasures, offering some of the best shopping in the country. Perhaps take an optional tour to marvel at the engineering feat that is the Hoover Dam. Exhausted by the possibilities? Enjoy some down time at the hotel's pool or visit a spa for a rejuvenating massage.

  • Day 8

    LAS VEGAS – DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

    Make your way from Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park, named for its extreme temperatures. During the summer months, temperatures can climb upwards of 120 °F (49 °C), frequently the hottest spot in the United States. But don't worry, you have the chance to explore this natural wonder when temperatures are much more comfortable. In the park, you will see a variety of terrain from the cracked earth known as Bad Water to the colourful Artist's Palette and the delicate sand dunes. And learn why Death Valley has recently been deemed the world's largest Dark Sky Preserve. This evening, hop on a hayride under the stars which takes you to a barbecue Highlight Dinner.

    DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – VISALIA

    Continue exploring Death Valley from the road as you head to Visalia. On the way, stop at Manzanar National Historic Site for a Unique Insight into one of ten camps where Japanese-Americans and Japanese immigrants were forced to relocate during World War II. Arrive at your hotel this evening and enjoy some time at leisure.

    VISALIA – SAN FRANCISCO (2 NIGHTS)

    Head up the California coast to San Francisco. Visit the iconic Golden Gate Bridge before embarking on an orientation tour that takes you from Fisherman's Wharf to Alamo Square. Then enjoy a Unique Insight into the hustle and bustle of the city during a visit to the Cable Car Museum. There's a story around every corner of San Francisco so take some free time this afternoon to continue the exploration on your own.

    SAN FRANCISCO SIGHTSEEING

    The entire day is yours to explore glorious, exciting, eccentric San Francisco as you wish. Ride the cable cars, shop Union Square, or visit the museums and gardens of Golden Gate Park. Take advantage of exciting optional excursions including a trip to Northern California's Wine Country or a visit to the California Academy of Sciences, a fascinating institution exploring the origins of human life on Earth. Your Travel Director will be happy to help you make any arrangements. This evening, enjoy dinner with your travelling companions at a local restaurant.

  • Day 12

    SAN FRANCISCO – CARMEL – MONTEREY

    Head south towards the quaint village of Carmel-by-the-Sea to browse the shops, wander down to the water's edge or savour a cappuccino at a café. Stop at a popular local fruit stand and stock up on delicious treats. After cruising the beautiful 17-Mile Drive past the famed Lone Cypress Tree and Pebble Beach Golf Links, arrive in Monterey. Tonight, enjoy a Be My Guest experience. Your hosts share their knowledge and love of food with you this evening as you dine on a meal of the freshest, locally sourced produce of the region. Participate in the creation of your meal, an experience meant to empower you as a diner with an understanding of the farm to table experience.

Enjoy some free time to explore the thriving metropolis before joining your Travel Director and newfound friends at a Farewell Dinner.
