On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • BERLIN

    • + BERLIN BY NIGHT AND DINNER Tonight join in the fun of hearty German food, wine, beer and music. Afterwards enjoy the illuminated landmarks of the German Capital.

    • + BERLIN S SECRET PAST From the Holocaust Memorial and the nearby site of Hitler's Bunker, we visit a remaining section of the Berlin Wall, followed by a stop at the Bendler Block, the Memorial to the Resistance Movement, to learn about the plot by Graf von Stauffenberg. His heroic efforts to assassinate Hitler were recently portrayed by Tom Cruise in 'Valkyrie'. Finally we visit the Topography of Terror, an outdoor documentary located on the former site of the Gestapo HQ.

    • + LAKE DISTRICT DINNER We are able to admire the architecture of this vibrant city as our scenic drive takes us to the green outskirts of the city, used as the Royal Hunting grounds in centuries past. Today it is an exclusive residential district and it is here that we find our charming chalet-style restaurant forming an elegant setting for our atmospheric dinner of German specialities.

  • WARSAW

    • + CHOPIN S WARSAW The spirit of Warsaw and the music of Chopin go hand in hand. This exclusive private recital of his music, performed for you by a celebrated Polish pianist, in the lovely setting of one of Warsaw's old summer palaces is one of the unforgettable memories of this trip. Sparkling wine will be served during the intermission.

    • + WILANOW PALACE This splendid baroque palace, as impressive as Versailles, was built in the late 17th century as a summer palace for King Jan Sobieski III. Its collection of royal furniture, portraits and china forms part of the National Museum, and in the palace grounds there's the Museum of the Polish Poster.

  • KRAKOW

    • + FARMHOUSE DINNER AND POLKA PARTY Poland has a rich culture and famous folk art: enjoy the entertainment of typical music and traditional dance while savouring a 4-course meal of Polish specialities.

    • + WIELICZKA SALT MINES Visit the greatest tourist attraction in the south of Poland. The salt mine is over 800 years old. The chambers are filled with absolutely unique salt sculptures recalling famous fairy tales. See the chambers of the good ghost of the mine and the seven dwarfs. Visit the chapel of the last supper and many other biblical scenes. Wonder at the glittering chandeliers of pure crystal salt.

  • BUDAPEST

    • + DANUBE CRUISE WITH DINNER Enjoy a scenic cruise on our private boat on the romantic Danube - savour a tasty dinner selection of Hungarian specialities with drinks included. Be amazed at Budapest's spectacular illuminations, and understand why the city is also known as "The Paris of the East".

    • + VISIT TO THE HUNGARIAN PARLIAMENT Take a guided tour of this magnificent Gothic Revival building, the most ornate state parliament in Europe. (When the Parliament is closed, we will visit the exquisitely decorated, 'Renaissance' Opera House).

    • + SZENTENDRE AND LIGHT LUNCH Follow our guide to the lovely medieval town of Szentendre, with its ancient walls and narrow, cobbled streets to visit Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum. Being a centre of art and handicrafts, it has a truly unique atmosphere. Perhaps strike a bargain in the shops that sell beautiful Hungarian embroidery and ceramics. The excursion will be completed with a visit to the quaint, charming restaurant, where Hungarian goulash soup, cake and drinks will be served.

    • + BUDAPEST S SECRET TREASURES After a guided visit of St Stephen's Basilica, Hungary's national treasure, we drive to Vajdahunyad Castle, the most interesting building complex in the City Park. In the pretty chapel of this fairy-tale like castle, we will enjoy a short organ concert and then saunter beneath the shady trees of the park to the world famous Gundel restaurant for coffee and the speciality of the house - Gundel's delicious pancakes and a drink!

  • VIENNA

    • + VIENNESE CONCERT A wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

    • + DINNER AND VIENNESE CONCERT We will enjoy a delicious meal of Viennese specialities, with drinks, followed by a wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

    • + SCHONBRUNN PALACE AND GARDENS We enjoy a guided visit to the Palace of Schönbrunn, with its magnificently preserved state rooms and exquisite gardens. You will have time for a walk through the park, perhaps as far as the Gloriette pavilion with its magnificent views.

    • + DINNER WITH TRADITIONAL MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT IN A LOCAL RESTAURANT Enjoy dinner in an atmospheric Viennese restaurant. Drinks and traditional musical entertainment included.

  • PRAGUE

    • + PRAGUE BY NIGHT WALKING TOUR An evening introduction to this fairytale city on a walking tour with a local guide. We meander through the old city to the Magical Charles Bridge. Then we enjoy drinks and music in one of the quaint restaurants in the old town.

    • + PRAGUE BY NIGHT An evening introduction to this fairy tale city by private mini-bus or tram and on foot, with a local guide. A comfortable ride brings us from our hotel to a point close to the Magical Charles Bridge. After a crossing on foot (weather permitting), a short ride brings us the Old Town Square and later to one of the quaint restaurants in the old town where we will enjoy a drink and a small snack while a musician entertains. Finally a panoramic view over the city before returning with our coach to the hotel. (This tour may be operated in reverse, starting with the viewpoint).

    • + VLTAVA CRUISE LUNCH OR DINNER AND VISIT TO TROJA CASTLE Take a relaxing cruise on the beautiful River Vltava and learn more about the legends, myths, culture and hidden secrets of this enchanting city, while enjoying a lunch or dinner of local specialties. On arrival at Troja Castle, a renaissance gem in the Italian style, a brief visit of the interior is followed by free time to explore the surrounding gardens before returning to Prague by coach - this visit may also be operated in reverse. (On occasion the cruise may be offered without the visit of Troja Castle. Euro 46)
