These historic European cities are bursting with ancient monuments and breath-taking attractions available for you to explore.


On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

A reduction of 25% of the cost of the Optional Excursions is offered to all children under the age of 16 years at the time of travel. Please Note: This discount to does not apply to North America optionals, as they are already discounted.


    • + DINNER WINE AND MUSIC IN THE TUSCAN HILLS Take a scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside to a delightful regional restaurant set among the pines and cypress trees. Here a feast of gastronomic specialities awaits, accompanied by song and music.

    • + FLORENTINE DINNER WITH ENTERTAINMENT Sample the flavours of medieval Florence, during an evening of good food and music at a distinctive historic venue. (Subject to availability).

    • + MICHELANGELO'S DAVID* A guided insight into the world of genius Michelangelo and his masterpiece "David". We enter the Academy of Fine Arts by a preferential reserved entrance and our visit focuses on Michelangelo and his groundbreaking and beautiful sculpture.


    • + LAGOON CRUISE WITH LUNCH Take some time off the beaten track! We are taken by private boat to the nearby islands in the lagoon of Venice. See the island of Murano and the Hermitage of San Francesco del Deserto. Lunch or dinner is taken at the island of the 'fisherman' - Burano - a photographer's paradise. Drinks are also included.

    • + MAGICAL VENICE A scintillating introduction to this magical city! First we cruise along the Grand Canal by private water taxis admiring the elegant Palazzos. We see the Rialto Bridge and then reach the ‘most beautiful outdoor drawing room in the world’ - St. Mark’s Square. Then enjoy a romantic gondola journey along canals full of character and colour, while musicians and singers entertain. See the magnificent and elegant palaces, witnesses of the past splendours of the ‘Serenissima’. (Without the drink, Euros 62)


    • + MOUNT PILATUS The opportunity to discover one of the best known mountains of Lucerne. A short drive takes us to the foot of Mount Pilatus, located in the heart of the Central Alps. Here, via a series of cable cars, we begin our ascent of this majestic mountain. We sail over farms, pastures and forests, and on arrival at the top you will have the time to take a stroll, write a postcard, or just marvel at the experience.

  • ROME

    • + ROMAN EVENING WITH DINNER A light hearted evening in Rome. We will relax and enjoy a typical Italian meal (drinks included), while live musicians entertain us. To complete our evening, we will drive along the Via Veneto, a location made famous by the film 'La Dolce Vita' and see how the Romans enjoy their city. A wonderful end to our day.

    • + ROMAN HIGHLIGHTS WITH THE COLOSSEUM An extension to the included sightseeing tour which allows us to admire the artistic masterpieces collected and commissioned by the Popes and displayed in the Vatican Museums. See the famous Tapestry Gallery and Gallery of Maps then finally wonder at the masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel. Take your time - Michelangelo spent 11 years in the preparation of the vault and altar wall! Later we will enjoy an interior visit of the Colosseum, scene of many gladiatorial combats.

    • + ROMAN TREASURES Cameras at the ready for the many magnificent sights awaiting us. With our licensed local guide we will discover the many delights that Rome has to offer. These can only be truly appreciated by wandering slowly through the labyrinth of narrow streets and beautiful squares which have developed over many centuries, creating an amazing legacy for us today, like the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, with its lively cafes.


    • + SEINE CRUISE AND NOTRE DAME The perfect way to discover Paris is with a relaxing cruise on the River Seine, as you sail gently by the wonders of France's capital, and learn about the buildings you are admiring, don't forget your camera! We continue by visiting the cornerstone of Gothic architecture in France, built in 1163, the magnificent cathedral that lies at the heart of Paris, Notre Dame.

    • + THE LOUVRE AND SEINE CRUISE We start with a conducted tour, enhanced by our excellent audio system, of one of the finest art galleries in the world - the Louvre. A chance to admire the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo amongst the many thousands of exhibits in this former Royal Palace. Then we will take a trip on the ever-popular riverboats along the Seine.

    • + MOULIN ROUGE CABARET AND DINNER Dinner and Cabaret, including wine and champagne, at the world famous Moulin Rouge - the original Paris cabaret - immortalized by the recent award winning film and featuring 60 dancers and entertainers and over 1000 costumes!
