Optionals

On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • PRAGUE

    • + PRAGUE BY NIGHT WALKING TOUR An evening introduction to this fairytale city on a walking tour with a local guide. We meander through the old city to the Magical Charles Bridge. Then we enjoy drinks and music in one of the quaint restaurants in the old town.

    • + PRAGUE BY NIGHT An evening introduction to this fairy tale city by private mini-bus or tram and on foot, with a local guide. A comfortable ride brings us from our hotel to a point close to the Magical Charles Bridge. After a crossing on foot (weather permitting), a short ride brings us the Old Town Square and later to one of the quaint restaurants in the old town where we will enjoy a drink and a small snack while a musician entertains. Finally a panoramic view over the city before returning with our coach to the hotel. (This tour may be operated in reverse, starting with the viewpoint).

    • + VLTAVA CRUISE LUNCH OR DINNER AND VISIT TO TROJA CASTLE Take a relaxing cruise on the beautiful River Vltava and learn more about the legends, myths, culture and hidden secrets of this enchanting city, while enjoying a lunch or dinner of local specialties. On arrival at Troja Castle, a renaissance gem in the Italian style, a brief visit of the interior is followed by free time to explore the surrounding gardens before returning to Prague by coach - this visit may also be operated in reverse. (On occasion the cruise may be offered without the visit of Troja Castle. Euro 46)

  • BUDAPEST

    • + DANUBE CRUISE WITH DINNER Enjoy a scenic cruise on our private boat on the romantic Danube - savour a tasty dinner selection of Hungarian specialities with drinks included. Be amazed at Budapest's spectacular illuminations, and understand why the city is also known as "The Paris of the East".

    • + SZENTENDRE AND LIGHT LUNCH Follow our guide to the lovely medieval town of Szentendre, with its ancient walls and narrow, cobbled streets to visit Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum. Being a centre of art and handicrafts, it has a truly unique atmosphere. Perhaps strike a bargain in the shops that sell beautiful Hungarian embroidery and ceramics. The excursion will be completed with a visit to the quaint, charming restaurant, where Hungarian goulash soup, cake and drinks will be served.

    • + HUNGARIAN AND GYPSY FOLKLORE SHOW AND DINNER Tonight we enjoy a Hungarian dinner with drinks in a local restaurant to the sound of folklore music as the local musicians serenade you at your table!

    • + VISIT TO THE HUNGARIAN PARLIAMENT AND GUNDEL Take a guided tour of this magnificent Gothic Revival building, the most ornate state parliament in Europe, followed by time to relax with a visit to the world famous Gundel restaurant for pancakes and drinks. (When the Parliament is closed, we will visit the exquisitely decorated, 'Renaissance' Opera House).

  • VIENNA

    • + DINNER WITH TRADITIONAL MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT IN A LOCAL RESTAURANT Enjoy dinner in an atmospheric Viennese restaurant. Drinks and traditional musical entertainment included.

    • + SCHONBRUNN PALACE AND GARDENS We enjoy a guided visit to the Palace of Schönbrunn, with its magnificently preserved state rooms and exquisite gardens. You will have time for a walk through the park, perhaps as far as the Gloriette pavilion with its magnificent views.

    • + VIENNESE CONCERT A wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

    • + DINNER AND VIENNESE CONCERT We will enjoy a delicious meal of Viennese specialities, with drinks, followed by a wonderful concert of Viennese classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. We provide you with 'A Class' tickets and a complimentary glass of local champagne during the interval.

  • SALZBURG

    • + EAGLE S NEST TOUR AND BAVARIAN ALPS Driving deep into the National Park past bucolic farmhouses and picturesque villages, we arrive at the ruins of Obersalzburg. From here we transfer to special motorcoaches adapted to the scenic mountain climb to Hilter's notorious 'Eagle's Nest'. Through the arches we will have splendid views up to the 'Hohen Göll' and across snow-capped peaks. (NB. This optional is weather dependent, and may not be available on all departures)

    • + BERCHTESGADEN AND HOHENRINGSTRASSE EXCURSION Should optional SZGT06 not be available, SZGT13 below will be offered as an alternative. A scenic drive in the Bavarian Alps to Berchtesgaden within sight of Hitler's Bavarian Redoubt. Then via the Hohenringstrasse, we ascend 5000 ft along one of the most beautiful mountain roads of Europe.
