On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • MADRID

    • + EVENING INTRODUCTION TO MADRID A walking tour through Old Madrid, its monumental Plaza Mayor, atmospheric alleyways and emblematic squares with our local guide, including a drink and a snack in one of its famous downtown 'tapas' bars, followed by a tour of the illuminated city.

    • + FOUNTAINS AND PLAZAS OF MADRID WITH DINNER This evening tour offers us the chance to admire the elegance of the new city, with its wide, tree-lined avenues and decorative fountains, before we experience the flavour of the old. Join the locals in a little idle chat and "people-watching" as they sip an aperitif before dinner. Drinks included.

  • GRANADA

    • + GYPSY NIGHT OUT This evening we are taken to the old quarter of Granada, which affords the finest views over the illuminated Alhambra Palace. Here we will enjoy the passionate 'Zambra' dances by Sacromonte's famous gypsies - a fiery emotive performance unique to the gypsies who live in these caves around. One drink is included.

    • + GUIDED VISIT OF THE ALHAMBRA AND GENERALIFE GARDENS Our local guide will take us on a guided tour of the beautiful Alhambra with its astonishing arrangement of courtyards with cool fountains and refreshing pools; through the landscaped gardens of the Generalife to the summer palace of the Muslim rulers of Granada, particularly enjoyable for its cool green, terraced water gardens. (Subject to availability)

  • COSTA DEL SOL

    • + EXCURSION TO MIJAS AND DINNER This small, hill top village is one of the most charming and typical of Andalusia. Perched high up, it offers splendid views of the coastline. Its quaint, narrow streets with white-washed houses, its unusual donkey taxi service and unique square bullring are only some of its attractions - the shopper will find even more! Our evening will end with a Mediterranean dinner at a coastal restaurant.

    • + GIBRALTAR Your chance a visit a little piece of England on the tip of Spain. With a Local Guide we drive south along the coast. We cross over the border to the Rock of Gibraltar, where our minibuses are waiting to drive us into the National Reserve area with views of North Africa. Visit St Michael's Cave and see the famous Barbary Apes den, synonymous with the rock. Afterwards free time to shop in this well known tax-free port.

  • ALGARVE

    • + REGIONAL DINNER Taste the unique feature of Algarve cuisine - The Cataplana. Simply delicious, authentic local dinner with other specialities.

    • + LAGOS PORTIMAO AND SAGRES First we visit Sagres - fishing port, historical centre of the Portuguese discoveries and home of Prince Henry the Navigator. Then on to the two most important cities in the Western Algarve, Lagos with its stunning coastline and beautiful river front and the busy port city of Portimao with its marina and famous Pria da Rocha beach. The Algarve at its best.

  • LISBON

    • + SINTRA CASCAIS AND THE ESTORIL COAST We leave Lisbon for the slopes of the Sierra de Sintra, an area studded with palaces. After visiting an impressive palace, we see the fashionable resort of Estoril before returning to Lisbon by way of the quaint fishing village of Cascais.

    • + FADO WITH DINNER An evening's entertainment Portuguese style. Savour a typical meal with local aperitifs and wines. Then relish the opportunity of watching the Portuguese demonstrate their folk dancing before listening to the unequalled 'Fado' singing.

  • OPORTO

    • + DOURO CRUISE AND DINNER Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Douro River with its five bridges and its Port wine warehouses. Then savour a typical meal in the Ribeira Quarter.
