  • Day 1


    Bienvenidos a Lima, dubbed the “City of Kings” by conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535. You will be met by a local host upon arrival and taken to your luxury hotel in fashionable Miraflores (check in time 3 p.m.).

  • Day 2


    Enjoy the morning on your own. At lunchtime, join your Travel Director and fellow travelling companions to meet Dr. Diez Canseco who takes you on a tour of his beautiful colonial home followed by a Welcome Reception and a delicious Be My Guest home-cooked lunch of Peruvian dishes. Spend the afternoon exploring Peru's capital and Historic Centre, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a Local Expert. Experience the colonial splendour of Lima's Plaza San Martin, home to the Archbishop's Palace and stately Cathedral where you can see Francisco Pizarro's tomb. Visit the Church of San Francisco and its catacombs before spending the evening as you like.

  • Day 3


    Fly to Cusco and head to Awanakancha, in the heart of the Sacred Valley. See native alpacas, llamas and vicuñas with a Local Expert as well as view artisan weavers crafting Andean textiles, a Local Speciality. Stop for a box picnic lunch before browsing the delightful handicraft market of Pisac. At a chicheria, taste and learn about chicha, a Local Speciality and favourite drink of the Andes. This evening, arrive at your mountain retreat in the Andes.

  • Day 4


    Climb toward Machu Picchu aboard the Vistadome train (light snack included). Panoramic views of the valley and mountains are sure to delight. Once you arrive at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, explore the stunning ruins of this once-great fortress with a Local Expert. Visit the great Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and the intricately carved Intihuatana.

  • Day 5


    There is ample time this morning to head back to Machu Picchu for more exploring on your own. The Gate of the Sun offers rewarding views after an upward hike. Back in the Sacred Valley, visit the Inca stronghold of Ollantaytambo, with a Local Expert, and then travel to your Authentic Accommodation, a beautifully renovated 18th century manor house, just a short walk from Cusco's Plaza de Armas.

  • Day 6


    Explore Cusco this morning with a Local Expert and visit the Cathedral, a stunning example of colonial architecture and splendour. See San Blas, a unique area with a variety of Inca walls and cobble stone streets. Visit La Casa Concha Museum, a Unique Insight, to see archeologist Hiram Bingham's 360 artefacts which were recently sent back to Peru from Yale University. Next, head to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive ruin site towering over Cusco. Later, back at the hotel, meet Local Expert Peter Frost, to learn about the Inca settlements nearby.

  • Day 7


    This morning, see the most important temple in the Inca Empire, the Temple of Korikancha. Enjoy a walking tour with a Local Expert who shares stories about one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the western hemisphere. Afterward, visit a local restaurant in Cusco for a lunch of local cuisine. Fly to Juliaca and meet with a Local Expert, transferring to Puno along the shores of the magnificent Lake Titicaca. Relish the lake at sunset for breathtaking views not soon forgotten.

  • Day 8


    Discover the floating Uros Islands on lovely Lake Titicaca aboard a cruise with a Local Expert. The islands are constructed out of reeds by the native Uros Indians. Embark on a private tour of Taquile Island to meet the local Quechua-speaking villagers, renowned for their knitting and weaving techniques. Delight in a local lunch on the Island and discover more about the culture of the people living there.

  • Day 9


    Travel back to Juliaca for your return flight to Lima where you'll have some free time upon arrival. Tonight, experience one of Lima's top museums after dark. Visit the Larco Museum, full of pre-Columbian artefacts such as jewelry, ceramics and pots that offer insight into the cultures of ancient Peru. You'll then sit down to a gourmet Farewell Dinner of Peruvian dishes, enjoying the fare while you overlook the museum's beautiful gardens. A night of great food and culture celebrating your Peruvian holiday.

  • Day 10


    Say hasta luego to Peru and transfer to the airport for your flight home, or if you like, extend your stay at the Hilton Miraflores.
