On every itinerary, we offer a range of optional excursions that allow you to further enhance your experience should you so choose. These are purchased when you are on your trip, via your Trafalgar Travel Director. Depending on the region visited these can be paid with cash or credit card.

  • ROME

    • + VATICAN MUSEUMS AND THE SISTINE CHAPEL An extension to the included sightseeing tour which allows us to admire the artistic masterpieces collected and commissioned by the Popes. See the famous Tapestry Gallery and Gallery of Maps then finally wonder at the masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel. Take your time - Michelangelo spent 11 years in the preparation of the vault and altar wall!

    • + ROMAN BONES AND GHOSTS WITH DINNER Prepare to be spooked at the sight of thousands of skulls and bones, artfully arranged as decoration on the walls and ceiling of the Capuchin crypt, followed by a walk to the Spanish Steps. Afterwards we will relax and enjoy a typical Roman meal (drinks included), while live musicians entertain us.

  • SORRENTO

    • + GLORIOUS CAPRI Cruise the Tyrrenhian Sea to the legendary island of Capri. Here we see the major highlights of this unforgettable place. The spectacular drive up to Anacapri reveals vistas across the azure waters of the bay. Then we descend the short distance to Capri Town, where we visit the luxuriant Caesar Augustus gardens for views of the Faraglioni rocks, and have time to savour the cosmopolitan mood of the Piazzetta before a funicular takes us down to the Marina. (On certain departures the visit to Anacapri will be replaced with a boat trip to see the magnificent white grotto and the enchanting blue of the seas surrounding the island.)

    • + TRADITIONAL NEAPOLITAN EVENING Our beautiful drive takes us into the Sorrentino countryside to arrive at an 18th century Olive Oil mill where we enjoy a guided visit of the gardens, the mill and an ancient wine cellar. We will be served a simple meal including the famous Pizza and wine. Throughout the evening, there will be a demonstration of how Mozzarella cheese and pizza are made.

  • TAORMINA

    • + THE ETNA EXPERIENCE As you ascend this legendary active volcano, you will emerge into Sicily's natural beauty at its best. The local guide will explain all about how and why the volcano behaves as it does. Amongst the various craters you will enjoy fabulous views from the highest parts able to be reached with our coach. Nature evolving right before your eyes.

    • + SICILIAN BEACH PARTY Tonight we 'make you an offer you cannot refuse'. A dinner party on the beach with delicious Sicilian food and wonderful Sicilian musicians to entertain you. The end result is a 'funtastic' evening of family entertainment.

  • AGRIGENTO

    • + VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES AND DINNER We begin with a guided visit to what is truly a Wonder of the World, the stunning 2,500 year old Valley of the Temples. We then proceed to a Sicilian Agriturismo to feast on a delicious dinner of home grown produce. Awesome!

  • PALERMO

    • + PALERMITANO DELIGHTS First we drive 1800' (300 metres) up Monte Pellegrino with its amazing views over Palermo and the nearby beaches, for a visit to the Grotto Church of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo. The guide will explain some of the ex-votos that have been left seeking her blessing, and we shall see the tomb of the saint. We continue on a fascinating visit to one of Palermo's street markets which has the feel of an Arab souk, so colourful and delightful. We will see wonderful and exotic produce on sale, and also snacks and specialties the locals love. We will end the excursion with irresistible Sicilian cannoli.
