Stunning architecture in a charismatic capital

Finland’s capital, Helsinki, is a dynamic city which feels different from the rest of the country. Famed for its architecture, the city’s focal point is the Senate Square, dominated by four Neoclassical buildings designed by Carl Ludwig Engel in the early 19th century: the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the University of Helsinki and the National Library of Finland. Sit on the Cathedral steps, admire the majestic buildings and watch passersby – it’s the perfect place to get a sense of Helsinki’s unique atmosphere.

Old-time elegance and modern markets

We’ll lead you from the Senate Square through the Tori Quarter, home to individual boutiques selling designs and handicrafts, and to the Market Square which is full of stands selling seasonal produce. We’ll also show you Helsinki’s concert venue, Finlandia Hall, which is another example of striking architecture. And your Local Specialist might even let you into the secret of its optical illusion.

We’ll give you free time to explore Helsinki’s sweeping boulevards, watch the giant ferries glide into the harbor, or just enjoy some good at one of its elegant cafés and restaurants.

Stunning scenery in all seasons

Finland’s stunning landscape is bathed in constant light in the summer, submerged in darkness during winter, bright in the spring, and full of color in the fall. We’ll take you on a coastal ride along the Gulf of Finland, past the port of Kotka and through the snowy, Narnia-like forests of Karelia, whose scenery has inspired several painters.
