Welcome to Fairbanks. Spend the afternoon getting settled in at your hotel or do a little sightseeing on your own. At 6 p.m., gather at the hotel with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

Fairbanks Sightseeing and Free Time

Visit a workshop where local artisans carve Alaskan birch bowls, a Cultural Insight. Then, board a paddlewheel riverboat on a journey to a recreated Athabascan village where you can meet and talk with native Alaskans. Enjoy some free time to explore Fairbanks on your own before a salmon bake Regional Meal.

Fairbanks – Denali National Park (2 Nights)

Wind your way through the scenic Tanana River Valley on your way to vistas of snowcapped Mount Denali-at 20,320 feet (6,194 metres), it is the highest peak in North America and the centrepiece of Denali National Park. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a Local Specialist presentation about the uniqueness of the Subarctic flora and fauna before delving into Denali's lively history at a Regional Meal and show at the Denali Dinner Theater.

Denali National Park Free Time

In 1976 President Jimmy Carter designated the park as an international biosphere reserve, focusing on ecosystem conservation and prudent use of national resources. Finally, in 1980, Mt. McKinley National Park and Denali National Monument were incorporated to establish Denali National Park and Preserve. Today is yours to completely explore the park as you wish-perhaps take an optional morning rafting trip.

Mt. Denali by Helicopter Glacier Expedition

Enjoy a helicopter expedition as you soar high above the land and view wildlife, alpine glaciers, the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley from afar. Your journey includes a chance to land and explore one of the park’s pristine glaciers. This tour is highly recommended for “once in a lifetime” adventurers. (Operation of this activity is subject to weather conditions). Duration: 50 min flight time and approximately 15-20 minutes on the glacier.

Mt. Denali by Helicopter Excursion

Get an up close view of Mt. Denali, the Great One! Enjoy a helicopter thrill as you soar high above the land and view wildlife, alpine glaciers, the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley from afar. This tour is highly recommendable for our "once in a lifetime" adventurers (weather dependent). Approx. flight duration: 35 minutes.

Fixed Wing Flightseeing in Denali

Travel like the Bush pilots of Alaska! Enjoy a 60-70 minute fixed wing flightseeing journey following the Alaska Range out to about one mile from Mt. Denali (weather dependent). Approx tour length: 1.5 hours.

Fly Fish Denali

Fly Fish in Alaska! Experienced or beginner; you will fish for a full half day for Arctic Grayling on lakes in the heart of the Alaska Range. The catch and release fly fishing package offers half day opportunities with no experience necessary. This personalized and fully outfitted trip includes gear, guide, equipment, and transportation. Fishing License is an additional cost.

Mt. Denali Heli Hiking Adventure

Get an up close view of Mt. Denali, the Great One! Enjoy a unique adventure as you soar above the land and view wildlife, alpine glaciers, the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley from the comfort of your helicopter, followed by a scenic hike. This tour is highly recommended for “once in a lifetime” adventurers. Due to the length of the hike, guests should consider their own health and mobile abilities before booking this optional. (Operation of this activity is subject to weather conditions). Duration: 15 minute flight with a 3 hour hike.

Husky Homestead

Visit with an Iditarod Champion! Step back from the crowds and join an intimate group for a personal tour of the homestead kennel of two-time Iditarod Champion Jeff King. Meet champion sled dogs, visit with puppies and see summer training in action. Two and a half-hour narrated kennel tour.

Rafting the Nenana River

Enjoy a scenic trip or wile canyon run on the Nenana River! Each trip is approximately three hours with a total of two hours on the water. The scenic Wilderness Run is perfect for the family and travels 13 miles through the Alaska wilderness. Perfect for the beginning rafter! The Canyon Run is an exciting whitewater adventure with Class III and IV rapids. This is one ride where you might get wet! Approx. duration: 3 hours.

Tundra Wilderness Tour

A trip inside Denali National Park! The number one reason for visiting Denali! Go deep into Denali National Park and search for moose, bear, wolves, caribou, and Dall sheep amongst a spectacular backdrop of valleys and mountains. This tour is led by experienced driver guides, who provide narrative on the many critters that call Denali home. With tales of Mt. Denali and breathtaking photographic opportunities, this is one tour not to miss. Includes a small box snack and beverage.

Denali Wilderness Hiking

Go for a hike! Take an interpretive, guided walk in the Denali area with a naturalist guide who will point out the landmarks and talk about the amazing geology and glacial history of this part of the world. Walk through boreal forests and discover how plants and animals have adapted to the extreme sub-arctic environment. Walk in the footsteps of animals, and gain a new appreciation for this far north landscape.

Denali – Alaska Railroad – Anchorage (2 Nights)

Enjoy a morning on your own before boarding the famous Alaska Railroad for the scenic journey to Anchorage. Relax in your comfortable reclining seat in the Deluxe Dome Railcar as onboard experts discuss the spectacular landscapes of Hurricane Gulch and Indian River Canyon. After arriving in Anchorage, enjoy the evening on your own.

Anchorage Sightseeing and Free Time

Explore Anchorage's historic downtown district and view the scenic shores of Cook Inlet. Stop at the Ulu Factory for a Cultural Insight, an introduction to the semicircular Ulu knife developed by the Inuit people. Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center where you can walk along wooded paths past indigenous villages and meet with natives from different parts of the state. After some free time, join your newfound friends at a Farewell Dinner and toast to your Alaskan adventure.

Fly over a Glacier! Take a Knik Glacier tour and experience a glacier and wildlife adventure. Soar over towering Knik Glacier for a full 90 minutes - At 25 miles long and 5 miles wide, Knik Glacier is one of Southcentral Alaska’s biggest and most spectacular glaciers. Approx. tour length: 1.5 hours.

Visit a wildlife rehabilitation centre with a guide before embarking on a sightseeing cruise into the heart of Kenai Fjords National Park. Then, bid farewell to those who will be joining the Glacier Discovery Cruise with Holland America.

    Service rating : Good to very good. The Tour Director did not seem to equally promote all the optional experiences, I wanted to do the rafting down the Nenana River, however, he pushed the Tundra trip which was too long and I think too costly, saying the river was too high and was not good for
