Take a tour of Jordan with us

A captivating country where the past is in the present

From ruined Roman cities and Crusade-era castles to Biblical landmarks, Jordan is a country with a riveting history. As you watch robed men herding animals in the desert, or wander around a souk, its history can seem to touch the present. Jordan is home to many beautiful sights like the red, colour-shifting sands of Wadi Rum in the desert, the practically royal blue waters of the Gulf of Aqaba, and the kaleidoscopic coral reefs of the Red Sea.

Follow in the footsteps of ancient merchants to Petra on a voyage of discovery and intrigue. Easily rivalling Machu Picchu as a contender for the world’s most astounding lost city, Petra is like nowhere else on earth. The Nabateans’ capital city was carved into the rose-gold sandstone of what some scholars believe to be the slopes of Mount Sinai more than 2,000 years ago. It was an important stop on the intercontinental silk and spice trade routes, until it was abandoned in 663 when the Arabs invaded.

Join our Local Specialist on a walk through the Siq gorge between 80-meter-high cliffs, which leads into the city. Then come face to face with the mighty Al-Khazneh, (The Treasury), a 43-meter-high king’s tomb. As well as colonnaded streets, temples, a theatre and a monastery, the site has two museums where you can learn more about its history and excavation.

The modern, fast-growing capital of Amman is built out of white stone on nineteen hills, and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

Join us and you’ll explore the old souk and Citadel Hill, home to the remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules. And the huge eighth century Umayyad Palace, a complex of former royal buildings. On a visit to the Jordan Archaeological Museum, you’ll discover some of the country’s most treasured artefacts, including three of the Ain Ghazal statues dating back to 6500 BC and some of the world’s earliest sculptures and Egyptian-style carvings.

With our Local Specialists, you’ll learn the history behind Amman’s 6,000-seater Roman forum and theatre, which is carved into the hillside and still used for events.

Dead Sea

Almost ten times as salty as the ocean, the Dead Sea has attracted visitors for thousands of years.

Beloved by historical figures from King David to Cleopatra, it was one of the world’s first health resorts. The mineral-rich water and mud have been medically proven to help put skin diseases and joint problems into remission. You’ll follow in Cleopatra’s footsteps when we take you to bathe in the warm, soothing water.
