People considering this tour are in for a great treat of culture and history
We have just completed 3 tours. Christmas markets Austria Switzerland and German ************, Imperial Europe ********** and Spain Morocco and Portugal ***********. All our tour directors were the best. Helpful in every way possible.
As mentioned above, the hotel accommodation in Austria feels very much like budget hotel. Being in an advanced age group, the itinerary feels very compact and fast paced. Understand that in this way to see the most places in the least time. For my age category, I would choose an itinerary that comes with a more measured pace and one that does not make one feel left out by not ticking all the optional tours. Hardly any time for one to catch their breath. Certainly an area for improvement.
Everything went like clockwork according to the brochure. The tour director was professional and did a good job in bringing the tour group from hotel to coach to attractions, etc. No fuss and no complain. One setback though was the hotel accommodation in Austria. The room feels very much like budget hotel standard. I would certainly recommend Trafalgar as a good way to tour Europe. Nevertheless, I have yet to meet a tour director that is exceptional that goes above and beyond the calling, that brings contagious warmth and joy to its charge.
Great hotels. Great food except for the Aroctel Cartellini in Salzburg who served the entire group uncooked chicken which could have caused massive food poisoning issues but luckily as far as I know nobody was affected. We all went hungry that night as the chef said he could not provide anything else except a horrible ravioli which was inedible. All other hotels and restaurants were superb. Accommodation superb.
Excellent diverse itinerary. Tour director ********** was informative and kept the group organised. Local experts superb. Benno the driver was able to to get us where we needed to go and he engendered a sense of safety.
All the hotels were great except one. There were three of us. We were given a smaller room at top of hotel Arcotel Castellini in Salzburg and kept bumping our head on the sloping ceiling. This is because of where one bed was placed. Also, did not care for the Christmas dinner fare of rare duck. I know this is the traditional Christmas meal in Austria, but some of us did not eat much of it. We otherwise very much enjoyed the itinerary!
