1. Arrive Perth
Ease into the relaxed remote city of Perth (flights to arrive before 12pm), joining your Travel Director this afternoon for a leisurely tour of the capital of Western Australia. Visit Kings Park and the scenic Botanic Garden on the broad expanse of the Swan River before indulging in a Welcome Reception and dinner with your fellow travellers this evening.
2. Perth - Geraldton
Embark on an epic road trip north, along the stunning Western Australian coastline. Our first stop is at Yanchep National Park, where we'll 'Dive into Culture' and immerse ourselves in the local Aboriginal culture in an authentic bush setting. We continue along the coast to the seaside hamlet of Lancelin and view the other-worldly Pinnacles, thousands of limestone spires that rise from the ochre desert floor. Later, we'll explore the seaside township of Geraldton and visit the HMAS Sydney memorial, honouring the souls lost in a World War II battle.
3. Geraldton - Monkey Mia (2 Nights)
We travel to Hamelin Pool this morning to discover a colony of Stromatolites, described as the earliest record of life on earth. Nearby, we'll find Shell Beach, formed from billions of tiny white cockle shells, before continuing to Monkey Mia, whose crystal-clear waters and exquisite beach setting provide a beautiful backdrop for our two-night stay.
4. Monkey Mia Sightseeing
Live in the moment on this leisurely day that begins with breakfast overlooking the tranquil turquoise waters of the bay. You could catch a glimpse of the famous Monkey Mia dolphins swimming into shore to be fed. (Note: As the dolphins are wild creatures, their appearance cannot be guaranteed.) Later today, your choice of sightseeing could see you relax around a campfire at an indigenous experience or unwind on a bay cruise at sunset.
5. Monkey Mia - Carnarvon
We venture north to Carnarvon today and visit the interactive Space and Technology Museum, which reveals the little-known town's role in the Space Race, followed by free time to explore.
6. Carnarvon - Exmouth (2 Nights)
Connect with your exquisite natural surrounds today during a visit to the Cape Range National Park. At Coral Bay, cruise over the World Heritage listed Ningaloo Reef in a glass-bottomed boat, then visit Vlaming Head Lighthouse for panoramic views over Lighthouse Bay. A Trafalgar Highlight sees us overnight just metres from the waters of beautiful Exmouth Gulf.
7. Exmouth Free Time
A full free day to indulge in your own interests. Explore Exmouth on your own, swim alongside gargantuan Whale Sharks in Ningaloo Marine Park (April-July) on an Optional Experience or relax at the hotel pool, overlooking the Gulf - the choice is yours.
8. Exmouth - Karratha
The magnificent views of Lighthouse Bay linger long after we continue our journey north to Western Australia's ancient Pilbara region. Known for its rich cultural heritage, brilliant red earth and vast mineral deposits, the region's diverse landscapes have been home to local Aboriginal people for centuries.
9. Karratha - Karijini
Explore Western Australia's mining heritage with a 'Local Specialist' as you embark on a guided tour of Rio Tinto's massive open-cut iron-ore mine. Then, journey into the depths of the Pilbara to Karijini National Park, with its characteristic deep gorges, secluded emerald rock-pools and towering waterfalls. This evening, watch as the sun sets over the wilderness in one of Trafalgar's 'Stays with Stories', relaxing on the deck of your safari-style eco-tent, with en suite, to the sounds of the surrounding bush.
10. Karijini - Port Hedland
This morning, you'll discover more of Karijini. Visit Fortescue Falls at Dale's Gorge and consider a walk to one of the park's rock pools. Later, we leave the bush behind for Port Hedland, a natural deep-water harbour and hub for major resource activity. Tonight, we dine at our hotel.
11. Port Hedland - Broome (2 nights)
Continuing north this morning, we skirt the fringes of the Great Sandy Desert and travel on to the former pearling Indian Ocean outpost of Broome. Our journey nearing its end, we join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner overlooking famous Cable Beach.
12. Broome Free Time
Enjoy a free day to explore this tropical hideaway on your terms. Take a leisurely stroll along Cable Beach, cool off in its turquoise waters, or wander through Chinatown and shop for pearls.
13. Depart Broome
Say farewell to your fellow travellers when your holiday comes to an end this morning after breakfast. You'll be transferred to Broome Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime).
Dive into Culture
Gain a deeper understanding of the traditional Aboriginal caretakers of the Yanchep National Park during a cultural experience in the bush. (Day 2)
Local Specialists
For included sightseeing at the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Mine. (Day 9)
Stays with Stories
Embrace a 'greener' side of life when you stay in an environmentally friendly retreat in pristine bushland in the heart of Karijini National Park. Owned by the local Gumala Aboriginal Corporation, the comfortable semi-permanent eco tents incorporate practices which ensure the sustainable management of the natural and cultural values of this ancient landscape. (Day 9)
Find out what makes Trafalgar different.
