Onwards to Ljubljana and Plitvice Lakes
A short journey brings us to Ljubljana, where a Local Specialist will share some of the Slovenian capital's most iconic sights, including the Cathedral, Three Bridges Square and Castle. Climb the medieval ramparts, imagining a time when Dubrovnik fought for its freedom against Ottoman attacks, or consider joining an Optional Experience to Montenegro to see the incredible Bay of Kotor.

We drive south along the Adriatic coast into the country of Montenegro. At the border we meet our Local Specialist, and embark on a panoramic boat trip to Our Lady of the Rocks island, constructed by local sailors over six centuries in veneration of a holy relic discovery. Afterwards we sail across the Bay of Kotor, past spectacular fjord-like scenery, approaching the fortified town of Kotor, surrounded with steep mountains and protected by UNESCO. After a guided walking tour, we will have free time to enjoy delicious local cuisine and buy Montenegrin souvenirs before returning to Dubrovnik. Day 12
On to Colourful Zagreb
We leave the splendour of Dubrovnik behind as we head north to the Croatian capital of Zagreb, our home for the next two nights. This evening we dine at our hotel.
Join a Local Specialist this morning for an exploration of the Upper and Lower Towns of this traditional medieval city. See the majestic Cathedral, the Opera House and St. Mark's Church, with its colourfully tiled roof. The afternoon is yours to stroll through the Old Town, twirling your Šestine umbrella as you ramble along its hidden lanes, or consider an Optional Experience to Kumrovec in the countryside. This evening, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner celebration with our newfound friends and Travel Director.
A scenic drive out of Zagreb with our Local Specialist brings us to the Croatian village of Kumrovec, birthplace of the late President of Yugoslavia, Marshall Tito. You’ll see his house, now a museum, and have time to explore the museum village. Later, share a meal of delicious regional specialities in a picturesque restaurant with magnificent views of the Croatian countryside.

The tour itself was pretty decent, as expected from a trusted tour company. Places, sites, and sounds was an experience to remember.
Excellent Travel Director (************). Always knew what was going on, coming up, etc. Great bus, driver. Even tho the group was completely full, we never felt crowded.
We love travelling with Trafalgar! The very best experience is guaranteed. Your guides are so very knowledgeable and they take us to the all the important spots and always throw in many secluded special events. Love travelling with you guys!
I would have given the trip 5 stars but the long drive from Dubrovnik to Zagreb should have been avoided as we drove close to Zagreb earlier in the trip. The rest of the itinerary was excellent.
Would take another Trafalgar tour. Have just completed our 8th Trip. Great Travel Directors, experienced drivers and knowledgeable local specialists. We have been pretty happy with most hotels.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them. What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional)
Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
