We transfer to special buses for the second leg of the journey: a spectacular road and great engineering feat blasted out of the mountain side. Finally we take an elevator up to the Eagle's Nest, intended as a mountain retreat for Hitler and his inner circle. Once at the top learn its fascinating history and take in the awe inspiring views of the surrounding mountain peaks whilst enjoying a local refreshment! Salzburg Sightseeing – Mondsee – Villach
Join your 'Local Specialist' for a tour of the city's iconic highlights including Getreidegasse, the Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart's birthplace and many of the locations used in the film ‘The Sound of Music'. Leave the sounds of Salzburg behind for lakeside Mondsee, where you'll visit Mondsee Abbey, the one-time Benedictine monastery that served as the church where Captain Von Trapp and Maria were married in the film. This afternoon travel to Villach where we will 'Connect With Locals' and enjoy a Carinthian 'Be My Guest' dinner with the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood in the Monastery of Kloster Wernberg.

The Imperial Boulevards lead to views of the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Oberammergau Accommodation: Trafalgar has secured hotel accommodation either in Oberammergau or close by in the picturesque villages of the Bavarian Alps. Please note that single and triple rooms are not available for the Oberammergau stay. Solo travellers and triple share guests will be matched and accommodated in a twin room with a fellow solo Trafalgar traveller, of the same gender, for the duration of the stay.
Since 1634, the tiny picturesque Bavarian village of Oberammergau has performed the Passion Play every ten years. This tragic and deeply moving chronicle depicts the Passion of Christ at the time of the crucifixion. The cast comprises local villagers exclusively and equals any professional production in both sheer spectacle and emotion; attracting visitors from around the world. It is an experience that will exceed every expectation.
