Bradley , Jun 2014

Peru's classic Inca sights and cities meet experiences like sightseeing over the ancient Nazca lines and sailing to Ballestas Islands, known as the mini-Galapagos, home to some unique and elusive wildlife.

It’s Insider moments like… listening to an expert archaeologist, whose stories of digs and discoveries conjure images of Indiana Jones and help bring the Inca people and Machu Picchu to life. Like expert Peter Frost, who talks about his 35 years exploring the Andes – and his incredible discovery in 1999 which was featured in National Geographic News. We also stay in luxury at Palacio del Inka, an authentic storied mansion, dating back nearly fve centuries, in the historic centre of Cusco

Adult Price: $47.00 Enjoy dinner with a colourful Peruvian folklore show at one of Cusco’s favourite restaurants. Dinner consists of a variety of typical Peruvian dishes.

Adult Price: $63.00 This world class award winning restaurant, hosted by renowned chef Jaime Pesaque, is located in front of the Cathedral in Plaza de Armas and is one of Cusco’s most popular. It has a bright and cozy atmosphere that features Peruvian cuisine consisting of fresh, mostly Andean ingredients. Appetizer, main course, dessert, pisco sour and coffee/tea are included in the meal. You can choose between two options for the appetizer, main course and dessert. Tip is additional.

Adult Price: $165.00 A short drive from Cusco, you will visit Moray, the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory that consists of four platforms that seem to disappear into a crater. At a depth of 500 feet (150 meters), the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental location the Incas used to study the adaptation of plants with agriculture. Next is the village of Maras, renowned for its ancient salt mines and wells. The salt has been used for economic purposes since the time of the Inca. You will meet the villagers who explain ancient salt mining techniques and have a chance to participate. Should this optional experience have more than two guests participating, the selling price may be reduced. Total duration is about 4 hours.

Afterward, head to Andahuaylillas to see San Pedro Church, a perfect example of Peru’s colonial architecture and often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of America. Also, during this outing, if you wish you are invited to sample typical Peruvian chicharrones (pork) or cuy (guinea pig). Adult Price: $121.00 Explore pre-Incan ruins dating back more than 2,000 years in downtown Lima. Long before stones were laid down to build Machu Picchu; the indigenous people of what is now Peru were constructing huacas (pyramid-like structures) for ceremonial purposes. Lima was constructed on top of these huacas. Your local guide will take you to two sites, Huaca Pucllana and Huaca Huallamarca, and provide historical insight into these temples that were built by an unknown indigenous pre-Incan civilization. This optional experience can only be offered if you arrive the morning of Day 1 of your guided vacation or have purchased extra nights. The food is served buffet-style in clay pots. The options include a variety of Peruvian dishes and appetizers, including beef, fish, chicken, quinoa, potatoes, corn, and more. As you dine, watch the energetic dancers perform colonial and Inca ceremonial dances. The costumes are colorful and the music is lively. This optional experience can only be offered to guests that arrive to the hotel by 3pm on Day 1 of your guided vacation or have purchased extra nights. Total duration is about 3 hours. (Minimum: 2 guests)

Adult Price: $36.00 Pachacamac is located around 30 km (19 mi) south of Lima and was constructed around 700 A.D. It was the most important ceremonial center on the Peruvian Coast during the pre-Inca and Inca period. The early inhabitants came here to worship and give offerings to their God “Pachacamac”, who was believed to be the creator of the world and all its creatures. The site includes several clay buildings including palaces, plazas and temples. This optional experience can only be offered if you arrive the morning of Day 1 of your guided vacation or if you have purchased extra nights. Should this optional experience have more than two guests participating, the selling price may be reduced. Total duration is about 3 hours.
