Lima Free Time and Sightseeing

Late this morning, a memorable experience is waiting to welcome you to beautiful Peru. Meet Ignacio Barrios, a young chef who has worked alongside many of Peru's award-winning chefs. Visit a local market where Ignacio will explain how Peruvian fruits, vegetables, seafood and meat are the bases of Peruvian cooking. Afterward, visit Ignacio's cooking school where you will see a demonstration on how to prepare some of Peru's most popular foods. Then enjoy a Be My Guest Welcome Reception lunch of typical Peruvian dishes, created just for you by Ignacio and his sous chefs. After lunch, meet your Local Specialist for a city tour of Lima's highlights. View Lima's ancient districts and visit the Church of San Francisco, the most notable group of colonial buildings in the city. Explore the impressive underground catacombs along with a religious art museum and extensive library. The evening is yours to enjoy.

Visit and Workshop at Choco Museum

Visit the Choco Museum where you will learn the Peruvian chocolate making process from the cacao bean to the chocolate bar. You will participate in making the chocolate and experience the true feeling of a chocolate maker. Space is limited. Total duration approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. (Minimum 4 Guests)

Huaca Pucllana And Huaca Huallamarca

Explore pre-Incan ruins dating back more than 2,000 years in downtown Lima. Long before stones were laid down to build Machu Picchu; the indigenous people of what is now Peru were constructing huacas (pyramid-like structures) for ceremonial purposes. Lima was constructed on top of these huacas. Your local guide will take you to two sites, Huaca Pucllana and Huaca Huallamarca, and provide historical insight into these temples that were built by an unknown indigenous pre-Incan civilization. This optional experience can only be offered if you arrive the morning of Day 1 of your guided vacation or have purchased extra nights. Should this optional experience have more than two guests participating, the selling price may be reduced. Total duration is about 3 hours.

La Dama Juana Restaurant And Folklore Show

La Dama Juana Restaurant combines typical Peruvian food with traditional folkloric dancing. The food is served buffet-style in clay pots. As you dine, watch the energetic dancers perform colonial and Inca ceremonial dances. The costumes are colorful and the music is lively. This optional experience can only be offered to guests that arrive to the hotel by 3pm on Day 1 of your guided vacation or have purchased extra nights. Total duration is approximately 3 hours. (No Minimum)

Pachacamac

Pachacamac is located around 30 km (19 mi) south of Lima and was constructed around 700 A.D. It was the most important ceremonial center on the Peruvian Coast during the pre-Inca and Inca period. The early inhabitants came here to worship and give offerings to their God “Pachacamac”, who was believed to be the creator of the world and all its creatures. The site includes several clay buildings including palaces, plazas and temples. This optional experience can only be offered if you arrive the morning of Day 1 of your guided vacation or if you have purchased extra nights. Total duration approximately 3 hours. Not available on Mondays. (No Minimum)

Magic Circuit Of The Water

The Magic Circuit of the Water is the world's largest fountain complex of beautiful interactive fountains featuring swaying water, colored lights and lasers dancing with the music. The Magic Fountain forces water to a height of more than 250 feet (80 meters). This optional experience is available Wednesday to Sunday. This optional experience can only be offered to guests that arrive to the hotel by 3pm on Day 1 of your guided vacation or have purchased extra nights. Total duration approximately 2.5 hours (No Minimum)

Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley

Fly to Cusco this morning. On the drive to the Sacred Valley, stop to meet a Shaman who will perform a Pago a la Tierra (Payment to Mother Earth) ceremony, an ancient Andean, and Cultural Insight, to welcome you to Cusco. Afterward, stop to visit an animal rescue sanctuary, a Cultural Insight, in Cochahuasi where native animals are being protected and rehabilitated. You will also learn about the natural dyeing techniques used by native weavers from different areas and see various weaving styles and ways of dress, a Cultural Insight. Enjoy a picnic box lunch before exploring the vibrant handicraft market of Pisac. Visit a local chicheria to learn about chicha, a Cultural Insight and favourite drink of the Andes. Arrive at your valley retreat in the heart of the Andes this afternoon.

Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu

Visit the Inca stronghold of Ollantaytambo before heading toward Machu Picchu aboard the Vistadome train (light snack included). Panoramic views of the valley and mountains are sure to delight. Once you arrive at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, explore the stunning ruins of this once-great fortress with a Local Specialist. Visit the great Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and the intricately carved Intihuatana. Later, if you're interested, a cooking class will be offered by the hotel's head chef where you can learn how to prepare Peruvian ceviche and mix the perfect pisco sour. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.

Return to Machu Picchu and continue exploring on your own. Travel back to the Sacred Valley by train where your evening is free to explore Cusco or simply relax.

Cusco Sightseeing

Meet a Local Specialist and begin the day with a visit to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive site of ruins towering over Cusco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then visit the Cathedral, a stunning example of colonial architecture. Also visit bohemian San Blas, a unique neighbourhood with artisan shops and craft workshops. Learn more about the nearby 13th century Incan settlement of Qoriwayrachina with a Local Specialist like Peter Frost who discovered this hidden site back in 1999. The afternoon is free before a your choice dining experience, giving you the choice of several local restaurants to dine at.

Moray And Moras

Visit Moray, the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory that consists of four platforms that seem to disappear into a crater. At a depth of 500 feet (150 meters), the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental location the Incas used to study the adaptation of plants with agriculture. Next is the village of Maras, renowned for its ancient salt mines and wells. The salt has been used for economic purposes since the time of the Inca. You will meet the villagers who explain ancient salt mining techniques and have a chance to participate. Total duration approximately 4 hours. (Minimum 5 Guests)

Piquillacta Ruins And Andahuaylillas Church

Visit 17th century Piquillacta, a pre-Inca citadel built by the Wari people, featuring an elusive history and bizarre architecture. Afterward, head to Andahuaylillas to see San Pedro Church, a perfect example of Peru’s colonial architecture and often referred to as the Andean Sistine Chapel. Total duration approximately 4 hours. (Minimum 4 Guests)

Cusco Sightseeing – Juliaca – Puno (2 Nights)

In the morning, fly to Juliaca where you will meet your Local Specialist to learn about daily life on the Peruvian Altiplano. After an included lunch, visit Sillustani, a lakeside pre-Incan burial ground to explore its chullpas (above ground tombs) before arriving in Puno along the shores of magnificent Lake Titicaca. Enjoy breathtaking views of the lake at sunset.

Lake Titicaca Excursion

Cruise beautiful Lake Titicaca with a Local Specialist. Discover the floating islands constructed out of reeds by the Uros Indians. Visit Taquile Island for a private tour to meet local Quechua-speaking villagers, renowned for their knitting and weaving techniques. Learn more about the culture of the people living on the island and enjoy a Regional Meal lunch. Tonight, dinner is at a favourite local restaurant in Puno.

Paracas – Nazca Lines Flight and Free Time

Explore the Regional Museum of Ica with its superb examples of Paracas weavings and textiles, well-preserved mummies and scale model of the Nazca Lines. Take to the skies for an unforgettable experience as you soar high over the coastal desert to see the enigmatic Nazca Lines, gigantic geometric designs viewable only from the air. Marvel at their stylized lines and wonder about the civilisation that created them. Then visit Bodega El Catador to learn about and taste the finest pisco in the country, a Cultural Insight. The rest of the day is free.

Paracas – Ballestas Islands – Lima

Cruise around the uninhabited Ballestas Islands, a "mini-Galapagos" teeming with wildlife. See another mysterious design in the earth-the majestic Candelabra. Back on dry land, travel back to Lima. Upon arrival, freshen up and join your travel companions for a visit to the Larco Museum with a Local Specialist to learn about ancient Peruvian cultures, before enjoying a festive Farewell Dinner at the garden restaurant of the museum.
