"We enjoyed our adventure"
Jacob , Jun 2014

Argentina and Chile’s dramatic scenery unite in Patagonia – from the Los Glaciares ice masses and jagged peaks of Torres del Paine to the world’s southernmost city and Patagonian Lake District.

It’s insider moments like… looking out for condors and pink famingos as you stroll or ride horseback on the Patagonian Steppe, in the foothills of the Andes. As you join the local family who’ve owned the working estancia (or ranch) of San Roman for generations, you learn about cattle and wool production, see them shear sheep as their ancestors have for years, and experience Patagonia’s timeworn way of life. Then you’ll join them for an authentic Argentinian barbecue, tucking in to a lunch of local lamb and pork – and other regional dishes.

    LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK EXCURSION

Embark upon a full-day excursion with a Local Expert to Los Glaciares National Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Los Glaciares is the second largest national park in Argentina and comprises more than 1,600 square miles (4,400 square kilometres) and nearly 50 large glaciers. These glaciers are fed by a giant ice cap (the largest continental ice extension after Antarctica) that originates in the Andes and occupies well over a third of the park’s total area. Discover the wondrous Perito Moreno Glacier, a pristine marvel towering nearly 200 feet (60 metres) above Lake Argentino. It is named after Francisco Moreno, a 19th century Argentinian explorer who helped resolve his country’s border dispute with neighbouring Chile. The constant, cyclical movement of Perito Moreno’s ice mass often forces the glacier to “calve”—an iceberg “birthing” process in which smaller chunks of ice fracture and break of from the glacier to thunderous noise. This spectacle can occur at any time, so keep your fngers crossed to be lucky enough to witness. However, ice isn’t the only thing you’ll see today: just east of the Icefelds are areas of southern beach forest and windswept steppe. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant within walking distance from the hotel.
