{"id":1451,"date":"2012-03-13T08:54:33","date_gmt":"2012-03-13T07:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/real-word\/\/?p=1451"},"modified":"2025-07-22T10:17:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T09:17:11","slug":"lois-anitas-royal-wow-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/real-word\/lois-anitas-royal-wow-moment\/","title":{"rendered":"Lois Anita&#8217;s royal wow moment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, my husband and I chose our dream trip with<a href=\"http:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/\"> Trafalgar<\/a>, where for 20 glorious days we explored the best of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/destinations\/europe\">England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While in Limerick, Ireland I asked Dan, our Travel Director if I should dress up that evening for the Renaissance Banquet.\u00a0 He said, in his beautiful British accent, \u201cYes Anita, put on your feathers tonight!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As we entered Bunratty Castle, we were pulled out of line and escorted directly to the banquet room while everyone else took to the stairwell.\u00a0 I thought it was just a courtesy because of my walking cane.\u00a0 We were totally shocked to be led to two thrones where we were given crowns and told we would be Lord and Lady for the evening \u2013 by the order of Barnaby Lord of Thurmond.<\/p>\n<p>For days thereafter our fellow travel companions called us &#8220;Your Majesty&#8221; and bowed in our direction.\u00a0 I even knighted one noble friend with my cane while others cheered!<\/p>\n<p>After we returned home, a friend of mine painted Bunratty Castle for me in oils as an anniversary gift to remember our unforgettable experience.\u00a0 Along with the certificate we received, it occupies a place of pride in our living room.
