The Motorcycle Diaries<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This 2004 film was inspired by Ernesto “Che” Guevara’s memoir that he wrote in the 1950s as a 23-year-old. The movie follows a motorcycle road trip across South America that Ernesto takes with his friend. In addition to showcasing the stunning landscapes of Peru, the film is about Ernesto’s self-discovery as a young man. If you like horror films and thrillers, check out Undertow. The film, which gained international recognition, follows the mysterious drowning of a man at sea. This film follows a Peruvian soldier who retires and returns back to everyday life, and the struggles that come with it. \u00a1Asu Mare!<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For a light-hearted Peruvian film that offers plenty of comedic relief, watch \u00a1Asu Mare!. <\/em>The comedy is written by and stars Carlos Alc\u00e1ntara and is an adaptation of his popular stand-up comedy show. It also stars many well-known Peruvian actors who starred in a popular nineties sitcom. The all-star cast paired with the hilarious storyline allowed this movie to break several records, including becoming the most popular film in all of South America in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Teta Asustada<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This award-winning film by Peruvian director, Claudia Llosa, deals with some serious subject matter. It’s inspired by conflict experienced in Peru in the 1980s and 1990s, and portrays it in a cinematic and artful way. The film features different landscapes of Peru, mostly filmed in an area outside of Lima. La Teta Asustada<\/em> earned several nominations and awards at film festivals around the world, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for best foreign film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
