When I think of Hawaii, pristine beaches lined with palm trees spring to mind. But if lounging on a beach isn’t your thing, there are loads of other great things to do when travelling to the Islands of Hawaii<\/a>. Here are my favourite Hawaiian sights.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Visit Pearl Harbor on Oahu and learn how the United States were launched into WWII. Standing over the submerged wreckage of the USS Arizona on\u00a0a floating\u00a0pontoon and imagining the events of that day, is an utterly moving experience.<\/p>\n

Visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s home to Mauna Loa the biggest volcano in the world and Kilauea one of the most active volcanoes in the world. In this National PArk you can actually see lava erupting from Kilauea and even spot some rare animals and plant species.<\/p>\n

On the island of Maui, discover the restaurants,\u00a0cafes and art galleries on Front Street in Lahaina, a former whaling village. Alternatively have a look at the remains of the old Lahaina Fort or marvel at the massive Bayan Tree which is the largest of its kind in the world.<\/p>\n

Don’t miss out on a whale watching trip and get up close and personal with humpback whales. The best time of year to see them is between December and April, so don’t miss out when you’re visiting the island of Maui then.<\/p>\n

You can’t leave Hawaii without attending a luau. Luaus are traditional Hawaiian parties with local entertainment\u00a0and food. It’s a mesmerising experience to listen to to watch the hand and hip movements of the dancers which represent the words in the songs.<\/p>\n
