The Peninsula is often overlooked by tourists who favour the hustle and bustle of its popular capital city, San Jos\u00e9. But while San Jos\u00e9 offers buzzing food markets, lively theatres and (delicious) coffee cafe\u2019s galore, the Osa Peninsula is known for its secluded, powdery white beaches, untouched scenery and several national parks. The region is also home to a multitude of animals, some of which are on the endangered list. Let\u2019s take a closer look at exactly what The Osa Peninsula has to offer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.unsplash.com\/photo-1552727131-5fc6af16796d?ixid=MnwxMjA3fDB8MHxwaG90by1wYWdlfHx8fGVufDB8fHx8&amp;ixlib=rb-1.2.1&amp;auto=format&amp;fit=crop&amp;w=946&amp;q=80\" alt=\"black and yellow toucan sitting on a branch\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-drake-bay-on-the-pacific-ocean\">Drake Bay on the Pacific Ocean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Found either by a small boat, or even smaller airstrip for the brave, and nestled along the western shores of the Osa Peninsula, Drake Bay is the starting point for two of the peninsula\u2019s main attractions &#8211; Corcovado National Park and Ca\u00f1o Island Biological Reserve. The park is home to four species of monkey, one of the largest populations of macaws, sloth and endangered puma and jaguar. Park rangers offer daily tours of the area, hoping to point out as many different species as possible, whilst ensuring that the park, and the animals habitat remains pristine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.unsplash.com\/photo-1550853123-b81beb0b1449?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&amp;ixid=MnwxMjA3fDB8MHxwaG90by1wYWdlfHx8fGVufDB8fHx8&amp;auto=format&amp;fit=crop&amp;w=933&amp;q=80\" alt=\"red-eyed tree frog sitting on a branch\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ca-o-island-biological-reserve\">Ca\u00f1o Island Biological Reserve<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once used as a cemetery in Pre-Columbian times, the biological reserve on Ca\u00f1o Island is where many of the mysterious stone spheres of Central America, thought to have been carved by pre-Columbian natives, are located. The two main beaches within the park &#8211; Espadilla Sur beach and Manuel Antonio beach &#8211; are about a 30 minute hike from the park\u2019s main entrance.
