Germany<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A spring tradition that’s observed in Germany<\/a>, along with other European countries influenced by its culture, is the custom of the Ostereierbaum<\/em>, or Easter egg tree. Having been a part of the country’s cultural heritage for hundreds of years, little is known of this custom’s origins, but the tradition of decorating trees with colourful painted eggs is still very much kept alive, and can be seen while travelling across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, this rich brioche-style bread is flavoured with spices and vanilla, then braided and sprinkled with almonds, before dyed red eggs are nestled into the dough. While this local speciality is traditionally homemade and given as a gift, it can also be found at Easter in many shops and cafes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
