Eating tortellini in Bologna for her mum and grandpa<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Bianca\u2019s Nonna emigrated from Italy, and it had been her mother\u2019s dream to take her grandfather to Italy. Sadly it never came to fruition, and Bianca lost both her grandfather to heart disease and my mother to breast cancer in 2003.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cIn my grief, I decided to take the trip to Italy for them. It took 20 years for me to make it happen,\u201d she says, adding that her husband is not a foodie and a trip would push him outside his comfort zone. For this reason they opted to go guided with Trafalgar.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cWe chose Trafalgar\u2019s Great Italian Cities<\/a> because it was one of the few that makes a stop in Bologna. This was the best decision!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

“Our tour director, Victorio, was entertaining, accommodating, and made us feel taken care of the entire time. From booking the trip all the way through the flight home, everything went so smoothly. \u201cThe moment that stands out was our afternoon in Bologna\u2026 We were looking for just the right place to stop and have our tortellini en brodo <\/em>(tortellini in broth), true to the way my nonna served it. We found the perfect place, Bar Il Calice on Via Clavature. The first taste of the tortellini brought me to tears \u2013 tears of joy. It was so delicious, but beyond the taste, it was the feelings that this dish evoked in me.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cMy sweet husband reached out and held my hand, like he knew what this moment meant to me. And I knew there was no one else I would have wanted to experience this with but him.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cWe did it, we took the trip my mom and my grampy had always wanted to take. We tasted authentic tortellini in Bologna, and learned how similar it is to my family\u2019s recipe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Facing a fear of travel with Trafalgar<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cThe best part of my Trafalgar tour was the sense of personal achievement to overcome a lifetime fear of travel,\u201d says Jayne C. \u201cFour generations of my family are well travelled, but it took until I was 55 to embark on my first big OE \u2013 a solo 29 day tour of Europe [with] Trafalgar.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As a 10-year-old, Jayne had a scarring experience as an unaccompanied minor battling severe weather that grounded planes airlines. It left it\u2019s mark on her as even domestic flights would evoke an irrational sense of dread that she cannot explain.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A Christmas miracle<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cWe had been planning our very special, once-in-a-lifetime, Irish Highlights<\/a> trip for over a year. We had decided to go at Christmas time as we knew it would be magical. Just a few days before our trip. I lost my passport,\u201d says Joy K.\u00a0\u201cUnfortunately, this threw a huge wrench into our plans.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

“The trip was only myself and my two grown children, so I begged them to go and still enjoy the trip without me. I had already contacted our spectacular tour manager Terry, and knew my kiddos would be in great hands.\u00a0I put my son on a plane in Orlando and my daughter flew out of Indianapolis. Once they landed in Dublin, they were taken care of by one of the best humans ever. Terry knew that things were not as expected and he made sure that they felt part of the group!\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cTerry helped surprise my kids who did not know I was on the way! To have missed this trip would have been a great regret, but instead, thank you to Trafalgar and everything they did it was, the trip of a lifetime!\u00a0Christmas together in Killarney, Ireland will be a memory I tell for years to come!<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
