How do you show support for fellow guests and travelers when out on the road? To help us write this guide to being a good <em>LGBT<\/em>Q ally, we got the help of two past guests, Craig and Graham from Adelaide, South Australia. They&#8217;ve joined us on two of the most amazing and memorable tours we&#8217;ve had to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first was in 2022, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/real-word\/trafalgar-unlocked-awards-craig\/\">they got engaged on tour<\/a>, on a magical sunset cruise beneath the Eiffel Tower while on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/en-eu\/tours\/grand-european\">Grand European<\/a>. The second tour took place a year later, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/real-word\/surprise-wedding\/\">they decided to tie the knot<\/a> with more new tour friends in Dubrovnik while on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trafalgar.com\/en-eu\/tours\/balkan-delight\">Balkan Delight<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the best aspects of touring is sharing experiences and creating memories with a wonderfully diverse group of people. So, we asked Craig and Graham to talk about their experiences and give us some insights on how to be the best LGBTQ ally when traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FTrafalgarTravel%2Fvideos%2F794563312892657%2F&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=267&#038;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"476\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;When you first meet your tour companions, don\u2019t make assumptions about their identities or relationships, based on their appearance. Be respectful of gender identity and use inclusive language, when talking to or about LGBTIQA+ people. This will have an immediate impact in helping your new friends to feel comfortable and confident to be themselves on tour.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Most importantly, we all have the responsibility to promote an environment that is accepting and inclusive of all backgrounds, regardless of genders, sexualities, races and abilities. Ask them which gender pronouns they use, so that you can refer to them respectfully in your interactions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Understand that traveling to some countries can present cultural and legal challenges for those in the LGBTIQA+ community to navigate. Casual homophobia is still a big issue for the LGBTIQA+ community. Used directly or indirectly, it negatively impacts the travelling experience for anybody who identifies as LGBTIQA+, and those with family, friends or colleagues who identify. You will contribute to a wonderful social fabric of identities, uniting together with a shared passion for travel and adventure.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>Diversity is beautiful! At the end of the day, inclusive and respectful spaces benefit everyone!
