In the Sacred Valley in Peru, weavers share traditions their ancestors passed down to them.     Bemvindo ao Rio de Janeiro! On arrival at the airport, you will be met by a local host and taken to your luxurious oceanfront hotel. Relax, get settled and enjoy your hotel’s superb location overlooking Copacabana Beach. Depending on your schedule, you will arrive today or in the morning on Day 2.

    Enjoy a leisurely morning before joining your Travel Director for an exploration of the cidade maravilhosa (marvellous city) and its many contrasts, from the 18th century aqueduct and colonial Candelaria Church to the 20th century opera house, Sambodromo, and city Cathedral.     Journey by cogwheel train to the summit of majestic Corcovado, site of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Back down the mountain, see the song-inspiring Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The rest of the day is at leisure. This evening, learn how to mix the perfect caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, and A Local Speciality , made with cachaça, and indulge in a traditional Brazilian barbecue Regional Meal at a local churrascaria.

    Enjoy a full day to discover the wonders of Rio on your own. Choose to embark on an optional half-day journey by jeep into the lush Tijuca National Park—the world’s largest urban rainforest. Perhaps tour one of Rio’s favellas or take a sailboat cruise. Your Travel Director will be happy to help you plan your day. Tonight, perhaps join an optional outing to a Carnival extravaganza with live Samba entertainment.

    Relax and enjoy a free morning for independent activities. This afternoon visit a Samba school with a Local Expert and learn how the school operates and prepares for Carnival week. SeeCarnival props and should you desire, join a Samba dance lesson. Afterward, head to the airport for the short fight to Iguassu Falls. These 275 separate falls cover nearly two miles along the Iguassu River. This evening, enjoy a convivial dinner with your companions at the hotel.

    Enter Iguassu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and meet your A Local Expert to explore the Brazilian side of Iguassu, including a scenic walk through the rainforest to the base of the cascades. After lunch at a restaurant overlooking the falls, return to your hotel for a leisurely afternoon at your resort. You may wish to join an optional activity such as a jetboat ride, helicopter fight or a visit to a tropical bird reserve.

    Cross the border into Argentina to see the falls from a diferent perspective. Stop at the Visitors Centre to learn about the geography of the area. Then board the open-air ecological jungle train to view the mighty cascades and take a guided walk along a scenic catwalk to see the thunderous Devil’s Throat Falls. Afterward, fy to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s exciting capital, renowned for its designer boutiques, fne restaurants, museums and theatres.

And if you’d like to experience a diferent side of Argentina, take an optional trip out into the countryside to spend the day at a traditional estancia (ranch), including a lively equestrian show and traditional parrillada (barbecue) lunch.     Bid “Adios” to Buenos Aires and “Hola” to Lima as you fy to Peru. On arrival late this morning, transfer to the hotel where your room is immediately available. Spend the afternoon exploring Peru’s capital with a Local Expert. Visit Lima’s colonial sights, including the Plaza de Armas with its impressive cathedral and the stately government palace.

    Sacred Valley of the Incas. Stop at Awanakancha, where you can see and interact with llamas, alpacas and vicuñas, a A Unique Insight. Enjoy a box picnic lunch before visiting the vibrant market of Pisac, where the local Quechua people gather to sell their produce and handicrafts. Later this afternoon, arrive at your lovely hotel, a former 18th century monastery, in the heart of the Urubamba Valley. Learn about the Local Speciality of traditional Andean textiles as you see weavers at work. Enjoy dinner with your travelling companions at the hotel.

    After breakfast, head to Ollantaytambo to visit this famous Inca hilltop fortress built from immense blocks of stone. Then board the Vistadome train (light snack included) and view incredible scenery through panoramic windows as you follow the Rio Vilcanota to the town of Aguas Caliente. Upon arrival, transfer to the entrance gate and begin your exploration of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your guide leads you through the ruins of this once-great fortress, built in the 15th century and abandoned nearly 100 years later with the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. See the highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the great Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and the Intihuatana, an intricately carved rock most likely used as a sundial or calendar by the Incas. This evening, share your stories with your travelling companions over dinner at the hotel.

    Return to Machu Picchu to continue discovering on your own. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike up to the Gate of the Sun for stunning views over the fortress and the valley below. Or view the incredible stonework and amazing feats of engineering required to transport the huge blocks of stone to the top of this isolated mountain. In the early afternoon, descend from your mountaintop aerie and board the train to the Sacred Valley. Then, head toward the great colonial city of Cusco via motorcoach. On the way, stop at a local chicheria for a sample of chicha, a A Local Speciality, and learn how this Peruvian corn beer is made by local women.

    Take a morning tour of Cusco, the capital of the Incas during their reign. See the highlights of the city including the incredible baroque cathedral on the main Plaza de Armas. Visit the 17th century Church of Santo Domingo, which was built atop the foundations of the Inca Temple of the Sun often referred to as Korikancha. Just outside of town, explore the impressive ruins of the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, perched on a hill overlooking Cusco. This evening, celebrate your travels through Latin America at a festive Regional Meal of delicious Cusquenian dishes served at a popular local restaurant with a demonstration of ancestral dances.

Begin your evening with a delicious Brazilian BBQ dinner (drinks not included). Feel the spirit of Rio’s world-famous Carnival as you’re treated to a lively extravaganza of Samba song-and-dance. You’ll be caught up in the excitement of this cultural journey as you watch a light show and a stage full of beautiful dancers. This exciting mix of percussion and samba dance builds to a grand finale with a Carnival parade on stage. Total duration of this outing is five hours. Not available on Sundays.

Iguassu Falls


    Adult Price: $43.00 This family owned park is home to more than 900 native birds from 150 species. Enjoy a self-guided walking tour along a well-marked trail through subtropical forests. Enter aviaries to get more of an up close and personal view of the birds. The walk through the park takes about an hour and total duration of this outing with transfers is two hrs.

    Adult Price: $125.00 Begin this adventure in open-air wagons with unhindered views as you work your way through lush sub-tropical forests. Then hike down the canyon where the Macuco Falls tumble over basalt cliffs into the Iguassu basin. Here, board a custom designed inflatable motorboat for a 20-30 minute exhilarating ride to the base of the falls. Total duration of this outing is about two hours.

    Adult Price: $163.00 Take a 10 minute flight high over Iguassu Falls and witness one of Mother Nature’s greatest achievements. Minimum of 3 participants to operate.



    Adult Price: $63.00 This world class award winning restaurant, hosted by renowned chef Jaime Pesaque, is located in front of the Cathedral in Plaza de Armas and is one of Cusco’s most popular. It has a bright and cozy atmosphere that features Peruvian cuisine consisting of fresh, mostly Andean ingredients. Appetizer, main course, dessert, pisco sour and coffee/tea are included in the meal. You can choose between two options for the appetizer, main course and dessert. Tip is additional.

    Adult Price: $165.00 A short drive from Cusco, you will visit Moray, the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory that consists of four platforms that seem to disappear into a crater. At a depth of 500 feet (150 meters), the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental location the Incas used to study the adaptation of plants with agriculture. Next is the village of Maras, renowned for its ancient salt mines and wells. The salt has been used for economic purposes since the time of the Inca. You will meet the villagers who explain ancient salt mining techniques and have a chance to participate.     Adult Price: $162.00 On this afternoon outing, visit 17th century Piquillacta, a pre-Inca citadel built by the Wari people, featuring an elusive history and bizarre architecture. Afterward, head to Andahuaylillas to see San Pedro Church, a perfect example of Peru’s colonial architecture and often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of America. Also, during this outing, if you wish you are invited to sample typical Peruvian chicharrones (pork) or cuy (guinea pig).     Adult Price: $72.00 On this popular outing you visit the Choco Museum where you will learn the Peruvian chocolate making process from the cacao bean to the chocolate bar. You will participate in making the chocolate and experience the true feeling of a chocolate maker. Space is limited and total duration of this outing is 2 ½ to 3 hours.

Buenos Aires


    Adult Price: $150.00 Enjoy a great day as you head out into the pampas to visit an authentic 3,000 acre (1200 hectare) estancia (Argentinean Ranch) that dates back to the late 19th century. A BBQ will be served with a variety of meats and salads. After lunch, watch a folklore show complete with music and dance. Also, sit back, relax and watch typical activities of an estancia including a wonderful horse demonstration. Duration of this outing is approximately 7 hours. (Min. 10 guests)

    Adult Price: $78.00 Immerse yourself into the world of tango with a renowned maestro. Your lesson can be specially designed to suit your level of expertise from no experience to advanced. Your group lesson will be in the San Telmo neighborhood (Tango's birthplace) in a unique residence that features an eclectic architectural style and filled with art nouveau crafts and paintings. Total duration of the lesson is 90 minutes and dependent on at least five participants in the lesson. Transfers to/from the lessons are additional. (Your Travel Director can arrange a taxi).     Adult Price: $90.00 Head to the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires to the lush countryside of the Tigre Delta on this outing. This area is a popular weekend getaway for Buenos Aires residents. The delta features pretty scenery, lovely summer residences, relaxing vibe, yachting and a chance to see another way of Argentine life.
