You might recognize Mita from our 2023 Trafalgar Unlocked Awards, when she won a place on the trip of a lifetime to the Balkans for herself and her husband, Sribash. She’s done plenty more traveling between then and now, clocking up over 15 tours with us. Her next adventure? A Rhine River Cruise down Europe’s most romantic waterway, which will set sail in later 2026.
“We have crossed the threshold of more than 15 trips!” Mita tells us. “Peru, Egypt, Turkey, New Zealand, Morocco, and many more. We have traveled to every continent except Antarctica, and have spanned several European countries.”
Mita will be one of the first people to experience our brand-new River Cruises, and we can’t wait to welcome her aboard. What was it about a Trafalgar Rhine River Cruise that drew one of our most experienced travelers to the water? Let’s find out.

1. Cultural immersion
Mita’s favorite part about traveling with Trafalgar? “Be My Guest or MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® because of the cultural immersion where passions are stirred, and emotions are evoked!” explains Mita. “This is where my personal motto gets awakened: ‘Building Bridges and Breaking Barriers’.”
What sets our River Cruises apart is our incredible land experiences. You’ll find a Be My Guest and a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience included on every sail, where you’ll meet locals and contribute to sustainability. With Be My Guest, you’ll step into the lives of your hosts who open their homes, wineries, farms and more to share stories over delicious local flavors. Our MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences offer ways for you to connect with your destination on a deeper level through conscious travel experiences, chosen with great care based on their positive social or environmental impact. On our Rhine River Cruise, guests will uncover the craftsmanship behind the artisanal vinegars produced at Weinessiggut Doktorenhof, with a unique opportunity for a premium vinegar tasting.

2. Ship amenities
Mita booked her Rhine River Cruise as a way of getting even more out of each trip. “River cruise is very different from land tours, but there are more amenities to enjoy on the ship!” says Mita.
Discovery meets comfort on a Trafalgar River Cruise, whether you’re taking out one of the onboard bikes or Nordic walking sticks for an extra excursion, or treating yourself to a massage or treatment with our onboard therapist.
We know sightseeing is hungry work, and that’s why every onboard meal isn’t just delicious and nourishing, but is inspired by the regions and seasons you’ll sail through – from your buffet breakfast or lunch to your à la carte dinners showcasing local flavours. And if you find yourself sailing during the afternoon, enjoy fresh pastries and tea served with a view. Wherever you are, complimentary coffee, tea, water, and light snacks are available around the clock.
3. More time with fellow travelers
People are part of the magic on a Trafalgar tour where you’ll meet interesting, likeminded travelers. “If one wants more downtime and to band with your fellow travelers, a cruise is more logical!” says Mita.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to meet new people, from exploring new destinations together on land to lively evenings onboard your ship at the end of each day, where you can share stories with fellow guests over regional wines as the ever-changing scenery floats by.
Our custom ships have plenty of spaces for you to unwind and relax, whether you prefer to retreat to your room with a cup of tea, head up to the sun deck to catch the sunset, or sip, savor and socialize in the bar.
The fun doesn’t stop when you return to your ship after a busy day out – when it comes to onboard entertainment, no two days are the same. One moment you could be tapping your toes to the sounds of a local act, and rolling up your sleeves alongside our pastry chef to master the art of the perfect Austrian Apfelstrudel the next.

4. Cost effective
Value isn’t an after-thought for us; we’ve built our itineraries around value that feels right. “A river cruise is more cost-effective as there are more frills attached!” says Mita.
Our thoughtfully-priced trips include everything you need, from all your onboard meals where you’ll enjoy fresh, local food with wine, beer and soft drinks included with dinner, to morning yoga sessions led by an onboard wellness coach. With fewer than 130 guests onboard and a crew-to-guest ratio of 1:3, forget waiting in line – you’ll feel right at home.
When you step ashore you’ll discover must-sees and local secrets, connecting with locals and getting to the heart of your destination with Local Specialists and curated culinary experiences. Just like our land tours, every included and Optional Experience is planned and organized for you, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy each moment knowing your dedicated Experience Director and Manager team have handled all your logistics.
5. Rediscovering cities
The beauty of a River Cruise is that you can travel through multiple cities and countries, all while only unpacking once as you return to your floating hotel each night. Don’t be put off if you’ve visited some of the cities or countries before – in fact, it might even be a reason to return.
“Revisiting can help retrace my footsteps to other cities and countries. Besides, having to explore the ship itself will be rewarding!” Mita explains.
You’ll explore each city, town and region by water, wheels, or on foot. Every itinerary includes guided walking tours and orientations wherever you dock, helping you get under the skin of each place through the eyes of experts and locals. Hand-selected Optional Experiences invite you to delve deeper, from cycling through vineyards or along riverside paths to guided hikes, and culinary experiences from craft beer tastings to specialty food tours in select destinations.
Rivers aren’t just a mode of transport, but homes full of stories and history. Learn what life is really like on the water from your Captain, with the opportunity to step inside the wheelhouse for a chat or a Nautical Talk.
We’re so excited to welcome Mita and all of our guests onto our River Cruises. “We are waiting with bated breath to see what unfurls and unveils, as we get to transcend the ordinary to embrace the extraordinary!” says Mita.
The extraordinary is waiting – all you need to do is step aboard.
