One of our ultimate Trafalgar trips is a journey to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. The land of ice and fire not only offers the opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis, it also rewards visitors with dramatic landscapes, the therapeutic waters of geothermal hot springs and cultural experiences that couldn’t be found elsewhere. On your discovery of the country, gain insight into Icelandic culture by becoming absorbed in the exhibitions of the Folk Museum in Skógar and the Viking World in Reykjanesbær, explore a diverse bounty of scenery from black-sand shores and waterfalls to bubbling geysers and active volcanoes, and lie back in the soothing Blue Lagoon geothermal spa.

With the resounding popularity of our City Explorer trips, we’ve gone from hosting them solely in the summer months to offering year-round departures, enabling guests to revel in each city’s distinct seasons.

London Explorer

Trafalgar Trips

Both a modern metropolis and historic hub – with antiquity dating back to Roman times – London is a city that appeals to every type of traveller, and one that keeps revealing new sights and experiences around each corner. The London Explorer enables visitors to embrace both the old and the new, from the city’s most iconic sites to its beloved markets, parks and museums. Peer up at the majesty of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, inhale the heady aromas of Borough Market and wander between the astounding exhibitions of the palatial British Museum. Follow this with a Thames river cruise through the heart of the capital, and have a taste of the flourishing dining scene by eating at the acclaimed restaurant Heddon Street Kitchen by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Top it all off by setting out on a journey beyond the boundaries of London to the royal palace of Windsor Castle and the enigmatic ancient site, Stonehenge.

Paris Explorer

Trafalgar Trips

Whether it’s for the arts, fashion, culture or French cuisine, Paris has long been captivating discerning travellers. Here, visitors can combine exploration of lavish sites like the Royal Palace of Versailles, with charming neighbourhoods such as Montmartre and, of course, the unmissable Eiffel Tower. Add to this a little time spent in the cafes of the Latin Quarter and a cruise along the vibrant River Seine, and the trip is bound to be unforgettable; by exploring with a local specialist, the lesser-known sides of the city will be revealed, too. A short journey from the French capital will then take visitors to the historically significant and remarkably poignant battlefields of Normandy, the D-Day Landing beaches. With a backdrop of the coastline’s white-chalk cliffs, visitors to these shores are given insight into the events that took place here in 1944.

Rome Explorer

Trafalgar Trips

As the city that was once the centre of the Roman Empire, Rome has long been one of the world’s most influential places to visit for historic arts and culture. Begin your discovery by going back to the city’s ancient Roman roots and revelling in the atmospheric ruins of sites like the Colosseum, before admiring the elaborate frescoes of Michelangelo at the Sistine Chapel, which lies within the world’s smallest country, Vatican City. Italian cuisine is also a highlight for many people who come here, so the Rome Explorer trip gives visitors the chance to find out about the region’s produce and typical cuisine under the expert guidance of a local chef.
