7 lucky destinations to visit in the rooster year

Recently updated on August 31st, 2022 at 04:22 pm

The Chinese zodiac, as all disciples should know, works in twelves. And each of its animals comes with a list of characteristics that defines one’s fortune for the next 12 months. For some, it’s not just their luck but their characters, too. Here, however, we focus on two of the most important influences when it comes to travelling: numbers and colours. That’s because 5, 7 and 8 (as well as all their combinations – in coordinates, for instance) are considered blessed in the year of the rooster, as are the colours gold, red and brown. For those looking for the perfect vacation to take this year, here are seven lucky destinations based on lucky co-ordinates and colours that should be on your list…

Britain: Real Britain

The Year of the Rooster

Sitting on coordinates of 55 degrees north and 3 degrees west, 2017 is a very propitious time to visit Britain according to the omens. Use this year to explore the nation’s rugged coastline, culture-packed cities and gorgeous, rolling countryside.

Peru: Highlights of Peru

The Year of the Rooster

9 degrees south and 75 degrees west, the year of the rooster is an auspicious one for Peru. Visit to discover Peru’s vibrant Incan heritage, flavourful cuisine (including dishes like ceviche and lomo saltado) and beautiful wildlife, from llamas to jaguars.

Portugal: Highlights of Spain & Portugal

The Year of the Rooster

38 degrees north and 9 degrees west, the year of the rooster is a great time to plan a trip to Portugal. If you’ve been postponing a visit until now, make sure you book a trip that allows you to experience its fresh local seafood, cooked “a la plancha”; its fairy tale castles and palaces; and its big frothy surf coming in off the Atlantic rollers.

Morocco: Spain, Morocco & Portugal

The Year of the Rooster

32 degrees north and 5 degrees west, Morocco will live a charmed existence this year according to the Chinese zodiac. Perhaps that’s because the rooster emerges from nowhere each morning to wake visitors, who always enjoy the country’s frenetic bazaars, peaceful courtyards and vast tracts of desert.

Spain: Best of Spain

The Year of the Rooster

Possessing a flag of red and gold, Spain makes the cut as a lucky destination to travel to this year. The perfect excuse to visit Madrid’s art galleries, the Gaudi buildings of Barcelona or the whitewashed villages of Andalucia, a trip to Spain offers a wealth of cultural experiences.

Vietnam: Highlights of Vietnam with Cambodia

The Year of the Rooster

With its instantly recognisable red flag, Vietnam’s signature colours are particularly auspicious in the year of the rooster. Which is great news for travellers hoping to discover the country’s ancient temples, lush jungle and endless beaches.

Sri Lanka: Wonders of Sri Lanka

The Year of the Rooster

With a flag that features red, gold and an orangey brown, Sri Lanka really hits the jackpot when it comes to rooster colours. Visit the island’s sleepy fishing villages, barter at the bustling markets or catch one of its colourful trains – there’s no better time to visit.
