London is a city that has it all, especially when it comes to dining. Whilst the most famous British dishes are predominantly meat-based, the UK has also experienced a boom of vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Vegetarian and vegan travellers can find high quality, meat-free menus in all the big cities, but they’ll be spoilt for choice in the capital. Here are a few of our favourite vegetarian and vegan restaurants in London.
Mildred’s, Soho
By far one the most famous vegetarian restaurants in ‘The Big Smoke’, Mildred’s has been serving up meat-free fare in the heart of Soho since the 80’s. With a ‘no reservation’ policy, it’s best to stop by Mildred’s for lunch, where you can try the signature Sri Lankan sweet potato and cashew nut curry in the bright and modern dining area.
The Gate, multiple locations in London
For classic vegan and vegetarian dining in London, head to The Gate. With three locations across the city and an extensive menu list on offer, vegetarian travellers will be spoilt for choice. With a stylish and airy décor, The Gate changes its menu seasonally, so that the very best produce can be enjoyed. Find The Gate restaurants in Hammersmith, Islington and Marylebone.
Manna, Primrose Hill
One of the first exclusively vegetarian restaurants in London, Manna in Primrose Hill has been serving healthy vegetable dishes for 50 years. Specialising in ethnic, gourmet vegan food, Manna is located in the affluent neighbourhood of Primrose Hill, where it is popular with locals and visitors alike. The onsite bakery also serves up fresh breads, cakes and biscuits to take away.
Farmacy Notting Hill
Notting Hill may be famous for the Hollywood movie, annual carnival and Portobello Market, but it also attracts visitors from far and wide, with its fashionable restaurants and cafes. Farmacy is a restaurant that offers and array of healthy vegan and vegetarian dishes, free from refined sugars, additives and chemicals. Hoping to promote plant-based, organic eating and wellness, Farmacy is a trendy setting for breakfast, lunch or dinner, befitting of its location.
Deliciously Ella, Mayfair
British blogger and self-taught cook, Ella Woodward, rose to international fame with her plant-based food blog, Deliciously Ella. Stop by the Deliciously Ella Deli in Mayfair for tasty vegan breakfasts, including acai bowls, chia pudding, granola, banana bread and healthy green smoothies. At lunch, the deli serves up a selection of plant-based salads, mains and juices to eat in or takeaway.

By Chloe, Covent Garden
The popular fast-casual vegan restaurant, by Chloe, has made it across the pond from the States to the UK’s capital. Serving up colourful, wholesome, plant-based food in a casual diner atmosphere, by Chloe serves up vegan burgers, tacos, pancakes, and their own take on the British classic, fish n’ chips.
